Beautiful 1952 MG TD

This 1952 MG TD is a very nice solid vehicle. It looks to have been well taken care of. It has sat garaged since 2004 and was put on Non-Op status with the DMV.  

Exterior

The red MG presents well and the paint is in good shape. The body panels are all very solid and there aren't any signs of body filler. The right rear fender has a small dent in it but the rest of the vehicle is very straight. There are some various paint chips and scratches. The headlight buckets have some paint chips on them from the hood being lowered onto them. I do not know when the vehicle was last painted but I can see that it was resprayed at some point in its life. The black vinyl top is in good condition and does not have any rips or tears in it. The rear plastic window does have some slight yellowing. The side curtains that attach to the doors are in nice shape as well but the clear plastic windows are also starting to turn yellow as well. The chrome on the bumpers is in nice shape and shines well. The chrome grill shell is in nice condition as well. The windshield glass is in good shape and does not have any chips or cracks. The tires have some cracking on them and the date code reads 055 which I believe to be the fifth week of 1995 but I am not certain. The spare will definitely need to be replaced as it has a bubble on the sidewall of it.

Interior

The interior of this MG is very simple and basic. The vinyl seat upholstery is in nice shape. The seats do not have any rips and the seats are comfortable. The door panels are in nice shape as well and are complete. The carpeting is worn and is slightly faded. The wood dash is complete and is not warped but it could be refinished to make it perfect.  

Mechanical

This MG TD has sat since 2004 when it was last registered for road use. It has since been put under Non-Op status. The engine is a Model B engine with a serial number of 18GB-U-H  75897. The engine was checked out and had a tune-up done when it was brought to the museum which included spark plugs. points and condenser. fuel filter and a new electric fuel pump. It seems to run well and idles nicely. The manual transmission shifts as it should. The brakes were bled of all the old fluid and seem to work well. We did not however check out condition of the drums and shoes. Electrically this TD seems to be in good condition. The lights work and the instruments seem to work correctly.

Overview

This nice little MD TD should be a great vehicle for someone. The fluids should all be changed and the suspension lubricated because it has sat for a while. I always advise to have these vehicles inspected for safety reasons before taking them out on the road because the vehicle has been in Non-Op.
