I restored this classic in a British Racing Green with custom made solid maple dash. red oak accent trim on the inside door panels. and a unique steering wheel turned from maple.     The original speedometer had registered 33. 92 miles. The unit worked fine but the needle was broke so was replaced with used speedometer.  The car has been driven only 1080 miles since restored but the odometer reds 67. 00 miles.   This 72-73 model TR6 with wire wheels and overdrive remains the preferred Triumph amongst British car enthusiasts.   (Manufactured Date: October 1972. Commission Date: 1973. Commision # CF 1560UO. Engine # CF1717UE. J Type O/D Ttransmission)

The restoration included replacement of floor pans and rocker panels. Replaced the paper board transmission cover with the molded plastic part and installed noise suppression insulation material inside the transmission and the hand break tunnel.   All other sheet metal. including fenders. doors. trunk pan. and hood are original and rust free.  The trunk lid was replaced with one that was better.   Fender mirrors and head light rings were replaced with new parts.   The chrome front and rear bumpers could be restored or replaced although “as is” I won several awards at local car shows.

The convertible top was installed new over the restored and painted frame.  Used convertible top boot  is in good condition.  The radio is original and was reinstalled in a restored dash support over the transmission tunnel.   New speakers are mounted each side of the transmission panels.   The interior and trunk carpet was installed new.   The seats were restored with new cushion material over the original covers.   The door panels were restored using the original cover reinstalled over lauan plywood instead of the stock cardboard.

The engine is strong and runs clean.   Oil pressure peaks at 60 psi when started and settles in at 30 psi when the engine is warm with 10W30 oil in the crankcase. The head was pulled with the restoration.   Valves were ground and seated with new seals. Plug wires. battery. belts. hoses. were replaced with new.   The exhaust system including the muffler is stainless steel.   Sounds great! Valve and filter covers are nickel-plated.

Rear differential mount installed new with reinforced the stress points.

Everything on the car functions properly including all lights. switches. levers. controls. etc. The engine runs perfectly and the transmission shifts smoothly.   The overdrive makes it fun to shift on tight roads.   Suspension wear parts were replaced with the restoration

All new replacement parts were bought from British car part suppliers.   The paint was done by Kings Restoration. Roanoke Virginia. (one of the best in the state)

Wheel wells are undercoated

Extras include a package rack that could be installed on the trunk lid.   I couldn't see mounting it on the new paint.   Exceptions include the rear deck panel was painted BRG instead of stock black.   No decals!  I chose not to spoil the $6. 00 paint job.   I stripped the chrome from the knock-offs and polished the brass.   They look nice. The wire wheels are mostly the originals and are the painted style.   Front and rear tires are 235/15.   You are welcome to all the extra parts. nuts. and bolts left over from the restoration.

I have photos of the restoration if you would like to see and have them.   I will keep my trophies.

The car is available for inspection by calling 540-968-3887.

Hello,

Beautiful restoration! I’m interested in your restoration pictures as I’ve been eyeing an early TR6. Also I’m about a four hour drive from Covington.
