 IT HAD A NEW TWIN PLUG 3. 6 LITER POWERPLANT THAT  PRODUCES 250 HP( an increase of over 47hp from its predecessor) . A NEW 5 SPEED G-50 BASED TRANSMISSION WAS ALSO ADDED.   

THE 911/964 WAS ALSO THE FIRST 911 AVAILABLE  WITH THE ALL-WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM WHICH DIRECTED 31% OF THE POWER TO THE FRONT AND 69% TO THE REAR. DESIGNATED AS THE "CARRERA 4"
