You can remove the Targa top. store it in the trunk and then fold back the rear portion of the roof for the full. open convertible experience.
Secondly you can only fold back the rear portion of the roof while leaving the Targa top in place protecting the front passengers from the sun while enjoying the fresh air from the rear roof being down. This also gives the car a very unique appearance.
