1964 Series IIA Land rover 88”

OK I suspect if you are reading this add then you're already familiar with the usual Land Rover wagons cursing the streets and mountainous trails. but when was the last time you saw a pickup like this? All the same great utility. reliability. and go-anywhere traction. in a pickup version with all the cargo space you'll need. I'll admit I'm a sucker for the form-follows-function look of the early Land Rovers. There's something insanely appealing about these purpose-built trucks and aside from a mountain goat. there's still nothing that climbs rough terrain better. The Land Rover pickup truck is a very rare find that will definitely be the only one at the next off-road gathering or cruise night. and I suspect most Landie fans like it that way. The beige color is a rare and cheerful alternative to the usual blue or green found on these machines. and with the brown top. it takes on a rugged but friendly demeanor that's at home almost anyplace. The finish is decent. just the way you want it for a vehicle that's going to play in the dirt. not too perfect but good enough to show up anywhere with pride. Both the back fabric top and the front hard top are removable. creating a cool open air 6 seater. that has a very cool look as well. The seriousness of intent is more than amply demonstrated by the hood-mounted spare tire. grille guard. grab handles. tow hitch and its PTO capabilities.

This truck is all about getting the job done and basic utilitarian is the world inside. The middle front seat was removed and replaced with a gear console. as while you were technically able to fit three across the front. with the center-mounted shifter for the 4-speed manual transmission. the high / low shifter and the overdrive shifter. the guy in the middle wouldn't be comfortable for a long-distance trip. The black vinyl upholstery in the front and in the back is in great shape and all the hardware is dedicated to going anywhere under the worst conditions. As you can tell that there's nothing in this truck that doesn't serve a purpose. It's the ultimate in functional fun. The modest 2. 25-liter inline-4 is all about reliability and you've already seen these trucks in the most remote parts of the world. so that claim holds up under scrutiny. Its performance is modest but it will get you there. no matter what. Under the hood. you will find the correct heavy-duty air cleaner. gigantic radiator (remember these were also used as stationary power units with the PTO). and a simple 2 barrel downdraft carburetor. Both the brakes and the clutch have been updated within the past 6. 00 miles. The added new wiring harness which converted it to a negative ground and the new oversized battery. has removed the old finicky positive ground anomalies that would periodically flair up in old Lucas Electric systems. The chassis is solid but does have some surface rust on it. The stock exhaust is new and tucked up nicely for ground clearance. Proper painted wheels and tall off-road tires make the perfect combination. Don't look now. but these are red-hot collectors' items that remain fun trucks and are still eminently useful.

Engine

New head gasket. and top end freshened up approx. 1. 00 miles ago. The compression displayed between 148 and 152 PSI on the cylinders. the leak down test indicated only a 12% – 13% drop. I was told from the previous long tem owner that the bottom half was rebuilt between 45. 00 and 50. 00 miles ago and from the compression and leak down numbers it is apparent that she is a strong engine in great shape. Other new parts installed in the last 6. 00 miles include. a new old stock distributor with an updated electronic module installed. New starter. new generator. new fuel lines and correct glass bowl fuel filter added. The over drive unit is in near perfect shape. and was installed about 2. 00 miles ago so it could drive on the freeway at 70 mph to get to the trails. It also has a killer tow setup on the front for when you want to tow her to further destinations. For me in Washington State. that was for trips to Moab UT and Bolder CO areas

New breaks to include upgraded master. drums. pads. and hard lines. new clutch. new clutch slave cylinder. all new axles. rebuilt hubs (all 4) to include the highly sought after Warren Hubs in the front and new tires with approx. 6. 00 miles on them.

The fabric bed canopy is only 2 seasons old and is in near perfect shape. the canopy bows were also sourced from an NOS stash and in perfect condition. The trucks hard top was recently painted approximately a year ago. I also have a full station wagon hard top setup for the truck if wanted for an extra $500 to the buyer of the truck (sorry it will not be sold separately at this time). The tail gate was also sourced from an NOS stash of parts and is in perfect condition without any dents.

Fly in and drive her home. drive over and tow her home or Ill help with logistics if you decide to ship it
