After much soul searching I have decided to let my 105E Anglia go.

I had one of these many years ago as my first car. and it was this very reason of a nostalgia trip that made me purchase the car earlier on this year. I am a classic car enthusiast and have had a few over the years. albeit bigger and more useable cars. I think we can all look back with rose tinted glasses. and this is the case here because although this is an exceptional example. it has been  a bit of a culture shock returning to 60s motoring! Hence my decision to sell: to fund something more modern but still a classic: something nice from the 80s: a decade of machines i'm more comfortable driving.

This particular example is quite a rarity being finished in rare two tone Lime Green and Ermine White 997cc Deluxe.   Lime Green was not available for very long. early on in the 105E production run.

Being a  January 1961 registered car (built in 1960 just 1 year into production) it benefits from some nice early features such as the early “product of Ford Motor Company” pillar badges and the elongated tail on the Deluxe badge.  It also has the earlier 80mph speedo before the Super was launched in 1962 whereby they changed to the 90mph speedo.

This particular car has led a very charmed life indeed and has a lovely history to it. It was delivered in January 1961 to a Mr J Harris. supplied by Bennetts Motor Works Ford Main Agents in Letchworth. It was used for 20 years until January 1981 whereby it was laid up and unused until 2012 – it had one owner in all that time – Mr J Harris. In 2012 it was bought by a chap in Yorkshire who brought the car back to life. It did not need any new panels. but simply a few body repairs. mechanical overhaul. and a full respray in its original rare colour scheme. It went its first 2 miles since 1981 in 2013 to the MOT station whereby it passed with flying colours.   I purchased the car in 2013 so i am the third owner.

The car is completely standard and as it was when new in 1961. It has had many new parts including new old stock distributor. new leads. plugs. rotor arm. new distributor cap. points. condenser. coil. battery. fuel pump etc and has had a full service. It had also had 5 new radial tyres within the last 100 miles. The mileage now is a genuine 62. 00 miles. It wears its original valuable registration number on its original Hills Pressed Steel number plates.

The history file is among the most complete I have ever seen on a car – undoubtedly due to its one owner nature from 1961-2012. It comprises  the original vehicle order form. bill of sale (671 pounds). original Ford warranty card. battery warranty card. original Hire Purchase agreement. and every insurance document from 1961 – 1981. It has a host of old MOT's to back up the mileage. and old tax discs. It has the original handbook etc. workshop manual. The chaps Library Card from the 60s has even ended up in the history file!! It even has the first service sheet present from 1961 from the supplying dealer.

In short 105E's like this do not come up for sale very often.

Bodily the car is absolutely beautiful with no rot or corrosion present in the usual places: under the bonnet. inner wings. a pillar etc are all good. There is a tiny pin head bubble on the bottom of the passenger side door corner .

The interior is in lovely condition with all original features. original early pattern headlining etc. Everything works as it should. There is a slight tear in the drivers seat vinyl and at the bottom of the drivers side doorcard. but apart from that the interior is lovely.

Mechanically the car is very good: it starts on the button. stops nicely. steers well. and handles well. The gearbox is beautiful engaging all gears including reverse smoothly. The car idles well. Out on the road it does run better with a slight bit of choke on: I had the car in to my local classic specialist who advises that the Carb could do with a tune up. but I haven't had the time to do so. I have had the car on two journeys. once to the Scottish Ford Day this year where it attracted a lot of attention) and the car showed no signs of overheating or anything untoward. It has never had any seatbelts or wing mirrors fitted.

It is naturally tax exempt. and is MOT'd until July 7th 2014.

I paid £6500 earlier in the year due to its rarity and condition. especially given its lovely history. I am not looking to recoup my money (as you can see by the price). but merely have enough to get myself something nice and more modern. to replace it with in a bid to use it more often.   It has an agreed value insurance of £7000. I would consider a swap for something interesting from the 1980's. eg Ford Capri. XR2. XR3. Cortina. BMW E30 325i. Sunny ZX Coupe. MK1 MR2. MK1 MX5 - must be standard though as I am not into modified cars.

The car is advertised elsewhere so I have the right to end the auction at any time.

The car is located in Fife. close by to Edinburgh Airport and major rail stations (I would of course collect you from either if you come to view the car).

Thanks for looking. and I am more than happy to try and answer any questions you may have.

Many thanks

Good morning,
I’m interested in your Ford Anglia, the only detail is that I live in Texas, USA. I gslk to my wife yesterday and she is willing to travel, but we don’t know the process to bring it to USA. We need it for my daughter’s birthday. If you know how is the process to ship, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
