I got this car because I always wanted to own a rotary engine powered car. The previous owner had given it to his teenagers as their first car. and they had no end of trouble getting it to run. When I picked it up. it would run after a fashion. and after a stop at a service station to refill the clutch master cylinder with brake fluid. I nursed it the 100 miles home.
   Since then.
New clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder
New brake cylinder and vacuum intensifier for the power brakes.
Carburettor rebuild
New shocks all around
New struts for the hatchback
New battery
New distributor cap and spark plug wiring.
New paint. It's not a concours paint job. but was done by a professional.
Changed all fluids – Brake. clutch. transmission. and differential
Repaired numerous small problems. so that with the exception of the air conditioning. everything works. The air needs a new compressor.
And recently ( within the last 90 days ) -
The suspension has been gone over. A new idler arm in the steering was required.
It has a brand new set of tires.
The Best. - this car has a totally straight body. No bends anywhere. and no rust. It is as delivered from the factory. Completely un-messed with. The 12a engine starts easily and runs smoothly. There are no problems with shifting or driving. Even the radio works well. If you buy it. you can listen to your favorite program while driving it home. no mater how far away your home is.
For the last four years the car has competed in autocrossing in ES class with my grandkids at the wheel. We have had no problems with the car at all. and have placed well.
I have been reluctant to part with this car. but along came this 99 Miata. that Mary named “ Miss Kitty”. It needs a lot of TLC. but the grandkids think it will be more competetive. They are right. but Mary says that three race cars are too many. so the RX has to find a new home. When she leaves. her trunk will contain a set of new front rotors. a set of rear shocks. and a box of misc. parts including a spare window motor. distributor caps and rotors. a factory shop manual. and some other items.
