For those of you who are unaware. this infamous "K" is a very tough option to find in any of the 1. 8 million Mustangs produced from 1965-1967. Only 7. 73 cars received this K-code performance option in 1965. and it was the exact vehicle selected by road racer. Carroll Shelby. as his platform vehicle for the ever-popular GT350! The option included a 289ci V8 built with a host of durable performance components to produce an incredible 271 horsepower at 6. 00rpm along with a heavy-duty suspension! This was . 95 horsepower per cu in of displacement which was quite an accomplishment! Because of this fact. these small lightweight powerhouse engines also found their way into the original Shelby Cobra roadster just two years earlier! Ford also caught the attention of European manufacturers who elected to use these dependable engines as well. They included Sunbeam. Lotus. Lola. and Cooper to name a few!

This exceptionally early built 1964. 5 Ford Mustang K-Code coupe was completed June 11th. 1964! Still powered by its original. number's matching 289ci V8/271 horsepower engine. original 4-speed transmission. and 3. 89:1 open ratio housed in the strong 9" rear axle! Options include Rally Pak gauges with 8. 00 RPM tachometer. GT style exhaust tips. front disc brakes. and AM radio! It is finished in factory code-correct Raven Black (A) with standard black interior (86) featuring a host of performance upgrades! These include 15x7" American Racing Torque Thrust wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich Comp T/A tires. sub-frame connectors & traction bars that are bolted. and professionally welded for added strength. driveshaft safety loop. Flow Master true dual exhaust system. lowered ride height. new Gas-a-just shocks. and more!

The engine bears cast code C40E-6015F unique to the 5-bolt bell housing used only on early K-code. The date cast reads 4F19 with a clear VIN stamp visible. The transmission tag reads HEH-S. It maintains original components throughout AutoLite 4100 carburetor & intake. correct balancer. water pump. correct generator charging system. proper fuel pump with FOMOCO filter. and more! We did note the original "big" horns have been replaced. and a Stewart Warner oil pressure gauge added under the dash for better engine monitoring. This vehicle is listed in The High Performance Mustang Registry. It was also celebrated in a Mustang documentary by Equus featuring 10 very rare Mustangs called Maharaja of the Road in 2009! It is a remarkable driver and has proven itself incredibly well as a touring example!
