You are bidding on a 1974 Lotus Europa. the following is a bit of history and info:  I purchased the car from a close friend 2 years ago. He had owned the car since 1986. The car is a late 74 with all of the final upgrades – struts for the engine cover. glove box door. map pocket between the seats. upholstered consoul. larger rear brakes. etc. The car has roughly 47. 00 miles on it and has never been apart. We do not know about the first owner but the second and third who owned the car for the vast majority of its life never had the car in the rain – looking under the car appears to confirm this. Mechanically the car is very strong – exceptionally tight to drive (like only cars that have never been apart tend to be). with all wearable parts replaced when needed. The master and original Girling boosters were done recently by the prior owner. He recently installed a lightweight flywheel with a new clutch and had the head gone through with new valves and guides. He also upgraded the shift linkage so it has zero of the typical slop on these cars. The car has the euro non- emission Stromberg intake manifold and tubular headers. The engine runs very well and the box has no issues. It does not overheat or run hot (I was stuck in rush hour traffic in on an 85 degree day llast summer and had no problems) and has excellent oil pressure.

The body was repainted in the original color (white) when the car was new by the first owner. He did not like the original JPS style striping so had it painted and re striped by someone who is now famous for his motorcycle tank work. If one did not like the pin striping I don't think it would be too difficult to polish it off. The paint is in pretty good shape however there are some minor cracks here and there as one would expect on a glass car with paint this age. It shows very well and would really only need to be done if someone were looking for a show car. The chrome is all original and perfect. The center caps for the wheels are not on in the photos – I have them but they tend to fall off so I keep them in the garage. I replaced the tires after purchasing the car so they are almost new.

The interior is quite something. Completely original with the exception of a new headliner done by the prior owner in the original style material. It has the late seats with fabric centers which are in excellent condition. Carpets. dash. dash top and seals are original and in exceptional condition. The dash has some slight cracking of the varnish but is very minor – probably the best original dash I have seen. All the printed labels on the dash are there and unblemished. The steering wheel is original and like new. Front and rear trunk compartments have the original bound carpet mats.

This is a very special example of a desireable version of the Europa that someone looking for an exceptional car should be very happy to own. More photos are available upon request.
