If you are a MOPAR collector or just an enthusiast. your mouth is most likely hanging open right now with saliva dripping out on to your key board. Very few cars fit the category of excitement that this car fits into. This is the car that everyone wants to clone.
The 71 Cuda Convertible had three engine options. The 383 came as standard equipment. The buyer could upgrade to one of three high performance engines :
340. 440-6 and Hemi.
71 Hemi Cuda convertibles are worth Millions( auto trans $2-3 Million. 4spd $4-6 million)
71 440-6 Cuda convertibles are worth over half a million (auto trans $400k-600k. 4spd $550-$800k)
71 340 cuda convertibles with an automatic trans (102 produced)are worth $75k-125k depending on condition. olors and options.
71 340 Cuda convertibles with a 4spd trans (30 produced) are worth $100k-$250k depending on condition. colors and options.
The lowest colors on the range are golds and browns. The highest colors are Curious yellow and Sassy Grass Green.
As far as I know. There is only one Sassy 4spd 71 340 Cuda convert and three Curious Yellow 340 4spd Cuda converts.
This car has a complete documented owner history from the original owner in 1970 until 2013. The fender tag is original and has been locked in a safety deposit box while a copy was made to show the car with. A buildsheet was found in the car but it is for a cuda with the VIN BS23N1B199?21which is a B5 Blue 4spd. This sheet goes with the car in hopes of trading sheets with the owner of the blue cuda one day.
The car was restored back in the late 90s. It is a nice local show car. it is not up to today's National show restoration standards. The car has been driven since the resto so it does show some wear. The interior has been upgraded from vinyl to leather the interior panels are original and very nice. The drivers door panel has a crack in the door jam area. The glass is all nice. the top is nice. It goes down fine but goes slow on the way up which usually means that it doesn't have quite enough fluid. The top motor was replaced with an NOS unit during the resto.
The body is very straight. the resto was done using NOS sheet metal including floor pan. inner fenders and trunk floor.
The paint on the body is very nice and even looks good when you are a few inches away. There are a few very small imperfections like two fine cracks near the antenna bezel and a couple chips in not very noticeable places that can be touched up. The bottom of the car was painted body color and shows it's age.
The original block comes with the car. It has minor fixable damage to a lifter galley. The car is now running with a date coded 340 block. The exhaust manifolds are the very desirable 70 High performance units. The exhaust is stock. Stock carb. etc. The car runs great. The battery in the pics is no good and for show only. it only lasted about a year. So a good quality regular battery goes with the car.
There are the usual convertible rattles which go away when the top goes down and the speed goes up. The trunk includes the jack and space saver tire with reproduction air canister.
The added Shaker hood is an original including the bubble and so are the 15x7 rally wheels. the bill boards and wing have also been added to round off the great list of options that this car came with from the factory. Original FenderTag decodes as follows:
