Here we have my Ford Bronco 1978 Full Size. I have owned it for about 15 years. It has covered 32000 miles from new.

It was imported new in 1978 by Ford for their Tractor Development Division (later to become New Holland). They used it sparingly as a mobile laboratory until 1995 and covered a mere 16. 64 miles. It was always kept indoors except when it was out recording data for transmission. hydraulics acoustics etc on tractors in ploughed fields. I have the mileage log running from 1978 (new) until 10/07/94 showing who drove it. where. why. time date in. time date out. etc. I have most MOTs and Tax discs and loads of service receipts and letters and faxes between them and the Ford dealership at the time. I also have photos of it set up as a laboratory in the early 1990s.

When they retired it. It was bought by a guy who worked for New Holland and he added some Alloys. painted the roof black and used it for trips across the channel to his French villa. Again it was always garaged and only used in the summer. 6 years later with 27000 miles now showing I bought it.

As a classic car. American car and 4WD enthusiast it ticked all the boxes!

I used it over the following years adding another 5000 miles (32000 now). I bought factory workshop manuals from the states cost me over $200 as well as loads of other service books and literature. I have 2 keys and even some original blanks to cut more.

Over the last few years it has seen less and less use  - spending most of its time in my garage. And then about a year ago I decided to do something with it. It was straight and solid with no rust or rot and drove beautifully always starting first time. It has never been messed with and even has its original Carburettor and air filter box. It is a 77 built not emissions model making it the best to own. So I spoke to my friend Ian Burton of Burton Motors. He is an award winning classic car restorer and painter. He stripped it of bumpers grill lights etc and over a number of weeks prepared it and painted it in beautiful metallic silver with a dark red metallic roof (these lift of for the open top wind in your hair summer drive). This cost me £4500 - yes four thousand five hundred pounds even at mates rates! He did an amazing job. It then came out of the paint shop so that he had room for an E-type jag that needed painting.

It was due to go back and have the very good underside painted black. To cut a long story short. My business has taken up all my time ant its still waiting. It starts and drives and all the parts are there to go back on. Its only trim and the seats. I was going to order a new grille. seal set and a few other bits from the states where everything is readily available at low prices but again not done. Some tasteful Mickey Thompson alloys and a stainless steel exhaust would have finished the project. Ian said he really enjoyed working on he Bronco as there was no rot to deal with (there was a 50p sized plate required in the passenger floor pan other than that nothing!

Dont be put off by the unfinished project status of the Bronco. It is a super rare one with a massive following in the states and quite a few enthusiasts in the UK and Europe. Finished this will make a £15000- £20000 vehicle. The Full size should have been in production in 1975 but due to the oil crisis was delayed until 1978 so 2 years only 1978 and 1979. And the low milage and traceable and very interesting history make it unique. You will be hard pressed to find one this good in the states. let alone here!

Ian Burton has said he will be happy to continue the work if you wanted and I can provide you with endless contacts and info. All the hard work and hours have been done.

If you fancy a chat about it give me a call on 07791 549269. or message me through ebay.

Cash or cleared funds please before the Bronco is taken away. I expect there may be overseas interest. I would be willing to help with export. Again only with cleared funds. I have the V5 in my name as well as loads of other paperwork! I am just north of Manchester 5 mins of the M62.

Thankyou Dayle
