The time has come to sell my S type. I'm up to eight  8 cars now ! I've owned the 'S' since January 2010 and not found too much time to use it. Whilst I bought the car from a dealer. nbsp;taxed. tested and on the road. I think it came out of long term storage before I bought it.  I have over the last few years encountered. investigated and then  patiently and methodically addressed all of the issues that appear put the car off the road. My guess is that it was the clutch that put the car into storage as I got a week's use out of the car before it kissed goodbye. In mid 2010 I rolled up my sleeves and fitted a new 3 piece Delphii clutch. followed by a new slave cylinder. rebuilt master. new battery. coil. rotor arm. plugs. radiator. Later on I fitted an electric cooling fan. replaced the leaking offside fuel tank. installed a new front carb float. new HT leads. more new plugs. another coil (to replace a rip-off Lucas badged item). nd a condenser. Recently I fitted new HT leads and another set of plugs. The old girl runs sweetly. has 150psi on all six cylinders and is free of faults with book oil pressure at all temperatures.

I have the green log book. apparently new to Mr Albert James Haynes of Angmering-on-Sea. I also have some copies of older V5s. quite a few old MOTs. which appear to substantiate the mileage and the latest V5 shows 5 previous keepers. This is an old and original motor. not a restoration or restoration project. it is 47 years old and looking good. Not immaculate. not a show winner. but it's not been 'got at' and is not a confection of repair panels. welding kissed with filler and covered in two pack paint.  The car has had paint and the green logbook shows it was for short time white and carried a private plate. the only indication of the brief period in white is the note on the logbook. It has been put back into its original Golden Sand at some point in the past and it's evident that the doors received a little filler; the door skins evidence this but the appearance is still good and the frames themselves are sound. The chrome is more than passable. but as it is original could be better.

The interior is very good and original other than the seats which appear to have had the outer 'horseshoe' renewed in good quality. supple. nbsp;colour matched leather. The carpets are original. but the passenger foot well mat has a small split in it. The car has a nice patina of age throughout and both looks and smells 'right'. Not having been welded. the floors are as new and the gold painted sound deadening is present and correct. The very observant may have spotted that the drivers side footwell trim is missing in the photo. the MOT tester managed to dislodge it. it is now back in situ.

So everything works apart from the clock and it is plainly and simply a get in and drive away car with a years tax and test. I'm sure I've missed a good deal. but I'm sure a few of you will have a question or two. which I will endeavour to answer. I have a handbook. workshop manuals (factory and other). parts catalogue etc. The toolkit is nearly complete. I can't find the screwdriver. but a pal thinks he may have one in a drawer. if we can locate one. it will be added to the kit. Please feel free to ask questions and I would encourage interested parties to come and have a look. but I will spare you the usual clap-trap. it's an old car that has survived the close to 50 years since it was built with minimal harm and interference. but it is a nice. straight and honest old car no more and no less.

It has a heated rear screen. there is no PAS. the overdrive engages and disengages cleanly and quickly and the red 'overdrive light works. I made a point of checking when the engine was out and all of the serial numbers match those on the plate in the engine bay and in turn those on the logbook. I think I've now sorted out anything that could turn and bite the next owner and the car should simply provide a great deal of enjoyment !

I am now concentrating on fettling my early manual V12 XJS coupe and enjoying my newly acquired V12 XJS convertible. so this is not a move away from my addiction to Browns Lane products. I'm the 120th member of the JEC. so you can see I've been moonstruck for quite a few years and am now taking on an early 3. 6 manual XJ40 with the intention of returning it to its former glory ! I have quite a few more pics which I can sent upon request.

I will answer any sensible questions. however it's a small country and having a look is infinitely better than sitting in a darkened room squinting at photos on a computer screen. whilst imagining defects that aren't there. I've gone for a class add with best offer and  as such I reserve the right not to sell the car to anybody who hasn't seen it in the flesh ! Come on get out in the fresh air and come and have a look !!

Happy bidding !!

Pete
