What you see here is a very rare and totally unique Cherokee Chief. you will NEVER see another like it. EVER.

This is a great. fun. usable and totally reliable classic Jeep. in fact it has been my daily driver for the past 5 years.

I use the Jeep the way a Jeep should be used - that is to explore the wilderness. the desert and the mountains.   To that end I have built the Jeep to be 100% reliable. Remember if you breakdown in a remote part of the Mojave desert. you will most likely die - this is why I have build the Jeep to be as tough as possible.

Everywhere I go. I get people waving. giving thumbs up and complimenting me on the Jeep.

Condition

The paint is bright and shiny with no chips or scratches. Over the past 40 years she has collected some minor dents and dings - but this is a Jeep that is actually used off the asphalt.

Having spent her entire life in southern Nevada. this Jeep is totally dry with absolutely no rust in the floor or rockers. she is rock solid.

The padded dash is perfect. the cover having done it's job of protecting it from the sun. The interior is very good. though the original seats show wear mostly on the driver side. The sun is a killer of interiors in the desert. The stitching is coming undone on both the driver and passenger seat - again the heat drying it out. I have left these uncovered so you can see their true condition. A set of nice seat covers will solve this problem.

Mechanical

The odometer shows a little over 56. 00. I gave the engine a complete rebuild (not just rings and valves) at 45. 00 miles - this I was told was the original millage. I did the rebuild anyway for peace of mind as I did not want to break down in the desert.

At the same time. the brakes were all replaced. all the engine ancillaries and the steering and suspension. given new bushings. u-joints. shocks. tie rods etc etc.

All the suspension parts are heavy duty. they do occasionally squeak or squawk. after all this is a 40 year old Jeep. designed in the 50's and not a 2015 Range Rover - mind you this is a darn sight more reliable than said Range Rover!

The tires have about 3000 miles on them

I replaced the manifold with an Edelbrock and matched 4 barrel Edelbrock carb. If you require all the SMOG gear in your state. I can get this for you and include it in the sale.

The original and rare factory radio is still fitted but does not work. The antenna is included (it unscrews). I leave if off as I do not want it to get damaged.

Summary

This is a fun. totally reliable and driveable classic Jeep that is equally at home on or off road or at your local cruise or classic car show - where you will be the only one.

She's ready to go now. with nothing for you to do but to enjoy.

The car has a clear Nevada title and is registered in my name.

The Jeep was manufactured in 1978 as per the data tag and was first registered in 1979. hence the title says 1979.

It is possible I may have missed something in my description. so please be sure to check all photos and ask questions.

I will be sad to say goodbye to her. even my neighbors say they will be sad to see her leave the neighborhood.

Something I forgot to mention; I have removed the entire heater unit from inside the engine bay - with this in place it is very difficult to access the rear of the engine and number 8 spark plug - and I wanted ease of repair/maintenance in the middle of the wilderness. You don't really need a heater in Vegas. so it has never bothered me.
I had a look but cannot find the old unit in the garage.
