When it was first introduced in the fall of 1957. the XK 150 was intended to compete against the BMW 507 and the Mercedes 300SL. It was similar to its XK 120 and XK 140 predecessors in its overall design. but did undergo some styling revisions. The traditional cut down doors were replaced with a higher. more subtle belt line. the front end was changed by widening the grille. the two piece split windshield was modified to a curved. /p>

one-piece “panorama” style version. and the roadsters now enjoyed the addition of roll-up windows. Necessitated by ever increasing performance. the XK 150 was introduced with power-assisted disc brakes on all four wheels – the very first production car ever to have this feature.

In the spring of 1958. the high performance “S” model was introduced. The new XK 150S featured a gold colored. Harry Weslake modified straight-port cylinder head that helped boost performance of the 3. 4 liter engine from 190 to 250 horsepower. The “S” model also enjoyed improved fuel flow by way of three large. SU carburetors. instead of the two carburetors found on the standard model. The S also had a much higher compression engine (9. 0:1 versus 8. 0:1). and more aggressive cam timing. Every “S” model came standard with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.

The Jaguar presented here is a matching numbers 3. 4 liter XK 150S from the first year of production. built July of 1958 and accurately restored to factory configuration. All the mechanicals were inspected and restored as necessary.

Cosmetically the car was refinished in Carmen Red and the paint was expertly applied. All the brightwork was re-plated and it complements the correctly reupholstered black interior and matching cloth top nicely. The XK is complete with the original Jaguar documentation including the original operating. maintenance and service handbook as well as the complete and correct complement of tools including the jack.

Beautifully presented. and ready for the concours circuit or the open road. this XK 150S is a great example of the marque. Today it has been driven sparingly and carefully  since the restoration. all mechanical systems still function flawlessly. With limited numbers of XK 150S Jaguar roadsters built. reportedly just  888 XK150S Roadsters. this automobile offers Jaguar enthusiasts a special opportunity to acquire a stunning example of one of the rarest and most desirable models produced in the original XK series.
