The SPEEDSTER D or Convertible D Arguably the rarest "production" Porsche 356 model ever manufactured as the model Porsche 356 Convertible D were only built for 1 year (between August 1958 and September 1959) replacing the iconic Speedster. only circa 1331 of this model were built and it is believed less than half still exist today. The same iconic A model Speedster body style. but with comfortable 356 seats and the windup windows. plus a higher roof you can actually use. but still kept the chrome removable wind shield for the racing. The Porsche 356A Convertible D was manufactured for the 1959 model-year only. Easily identified by chrome windshield posts that are bigger and higher than the Speedster. and by the two upper corners making an angle with the top of the chrome frame (rather than the rounded corners of the Speedster). The 1959 Porsche 356A Convertible D. which gets its D from body maker Drauz. is one of the most sought-after classic 356 models in the market. . It is important to mention that the Convertible D ran alongside the Cabriolet. Both soft-top options. the Cabriolet was an open-top version of the Coupe. while the Convertible D was not.
