If you are in the market. and ready to make a purchase. then you'll have done your research. and will know that this stunning vehicle is competitively priced to move things along - and out of my garage. It is listed for under the average confirmed eBay selling price for six-cylinder 94-96 Jaguar XJS convertibles. comes in at 30k under the average mileage. and is in better overall condition than any other at this price-point. Whoever ultimately purchases this gem will be getting quite a car - and just in time for the driving season!

Security System and Sound System books. and of course. the keys! (One key for the ignition; one key for the fuel cap; one fob for the electronic remote entry)

Nuts & Bolts:

There are no major or moderate mechanical issues.

This car runs and sounds great. Clearly the previous owners took great care of it. as have I.

Minor Issue: When driving along a rough road. the vehicle will rattle. Of course. one should not be driving along rough roads in a vintage convertible. If that's what you'd like to do. buy a jeep!

Electrical:

There are no major or moderate electrical issues.

Minor Issues:

Instrument Panel "Bulb Failure" indicator flickers intermittently. However. all lights have passed inspection. even while the indicator light flickers.

Driver and Passenger Seat Lumbar Support switches click. but do not function.

Passenger Heated Seat: indicator light does not illuminate. No heat is evident.

Cosmetics:

There are no major or moderate cosmetic issues.

For a 22-year old car. there are minimal cosmetic issues - and none that anyone will notice from more than five feet away (unless they're squinting and really trying. )

However. if you're looking to restore this vehicle to perfection:

Close-up inspection will present some imperfections in the paint clear coat. alloy wheels. and chrome trim. There are two thin vertical scratches in the driver side door. chipped paint on the inside edge of the bonnet. and swirl marks in the clear coat - all of which would likely be addressed by a professional detail job.

The interior leather on the driver and passenger seats is cracked - remedied either with professional leather restoration or a replacement leather seat cover. There is a 3cm tear in the rear drivers side safety belt receptacle. and a 1cm tear in the rear passenger side seat belt receptacle.

The interior upholstery is original. clean but darkened in floor areas. (Note: the photo shows a circular reflection of sunlight on the passenger side floor mat. ) The felt on the inside of the driver and passenger door pocket is separated along the edge.

The walnut burl trim looks good. but up close one can see it is cracked in places.

The canvas top is clean. with some loose threads at edges and corners.

The boot has eight snaps and six metal hooks used to secure it; one of those metal hooks is missing.

Sales Pitch and Wrap-Up:

Don Draper was marketing an XKE when he pitched "finally - something beautiful you can truly own" (and if an XKE is in your budget. congratulations!) But for the rest of us who are looking to get into the world's classically seductive. and crisply elegant Luxury Grand Tourer that replaced the XKE back in 1974. then this is the one for you.

If you are looking for a gorgeous red convertible for weekend (or weekday) trips that will turn heads - including your own. every time you walk up to it in a parking lot (or walk away from it for that matter) - this should be your top choice. With the same level of care you would treat any vehicle you'd like to have around for a while. this gem will serve you well.

On the other hand. if you're looking for a show car. this should still be a top choice. With minimal cosmetic investment. this Jaguar could go from head-turning on the road to eye-popping and award-winning in a show.

Either way. this Jaguar is meant to be seen out and about. around your neighborhood. and along the roads beyond - preferably with the top down. your choice of music. and companion in the passenger seat. It is the physical manifestation of freedom and beauty. . Isn't it your time to finally own something truly beautiful - to own a Jaguar?
