With only 48000 documented miles on the clock. this USA Spec 1983 FJ40 is the best of the best. One of the most pristine vintage Land Cruisers I have encountered to date.  The truck has two mileage logs that span over thirty years.  She is a testament to the care the elderly original owner gave this FJ40. She kept meticulous records of every drop of fuel and oil she put into the truck. She also recorded maintenance she had performed.  

She underwent a frame off restoration starting with a great low mile survivor and has been serviced by the FJ40 experts at TLC4x4. She includes factory A/C and power steering. the original 2F 6-cylinder with all emissions intact. Super beautiful truck inside and out. Original engine & drive-train. original seats with new vinyl. brand new OEM front mat. factory correct wheels. Original owners manual. toolkit. inspection light. and is 100% stock with the exception of Old Man Emu suspension and a vintage "TEN" AM/FM radio which was offered by Toyota.  

This truck is in my personal collection. In 2013 this truck was in CA. She underwent a restoration in Montana later that same year. The truck was in excellent shape prior to this work. I have photos of her before the restoration. She spends most her time in storage and has been driven about 1000 miles since 2013.  

Exterior: 

The paint is new and she is painted in her original color. The pin striping is a tasteful retro homage to the original dealer added pin stipe which was wider and extended over the hood. It's vinyl and can easily be removed if you prefer. The exterior has no dings. dents or scratches and is flawless. The underside is in excellent condition. The panels show no signs of rust.  All glass is original with the exception of the windshield which is in excellent condition.  

Interior:

Excellent overall. The dash has no cracks. Front seats have new vinyl and rear jump seats are original and excellent. Dash is beautiful and uncut. All floors are rust free and look great. The front floor mat is a new Toyota mat and the rear mat is lightly used and in great shape. The headliner and doors panel are new. The radio powers on. but doesn't play.  

Mechanical: 

Engine. emission components and all accessories appear to be original. The exhaust system appears to be mostly original with the exception of the muffler.  Springs are new Old Man Emu Dakar 2. 5". All lights. turn signals. controls and switches work properly.

Driving Impressions: It's the most quiet. nicest running FJ40 I've driven.  Overall excellent and great power! She shifts well. 4WD works great. brakes are new. Clutch works well and makes no noises. Dry underneath. no leaks!

Frame Off Restoration

New Exterior Paint

Fluids changed: Engine oil (& filter). differentials. transmission and transfer case. Knuckles topped off with moly grease.

Flushed coolant. replaced bottom and top radiator hoses. replaced thermostat. radiator cap and cleaned up reservoir bottle.

New OEM seat belts

Repainted windshield washer arms. Replaced wiper blades and arm caps.

New OEM front pinion seal.

New tires including the spare. The old spare was the original OEM spare tire. so I held onto it and can be sold with the truck.

Replaced carb cooling fan fuse. Fan now operates normally.

Replaced battery tray and cleaned up/painted battery tray bracket.

New Battery

Replaced all hoses at charcoal canister. Painted canister bracket.

Replaced all fuel lines (engine compartment) and fuel filter.

Replaced clutch and brake pedal pads (interior)

New OEM missing interior plastic plugs

Replaced all 4 flexible brake lines with OEM lines and flushed the brake system.

Replaced brake proportioning and bypass valve.

New OEM hood pad on front of hard top.

New OEM rubber windshield pads on hood.

New Fuel Pump

New OEM Oil Pan and Gasket

New Brake Pads and Rotors

Wheel Bearings and Caliper Pins

New Rear Brake Shoes and Machined Drums

New Left Wheel Cylinder
