1975 SV-1 G80 for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.25) based on 365 votes

Offered for sale in this true no reserve price eBay auction with a $50 starting price is this stunning 25. 80 mile. Safety Orange 1975 Bricklin SV1.  So exceptional is this Bricklin that. of the 2000 or so in existence. this one is likely among the top 50 examples in terms of original build quality. current cosmetic and mechanical condition and its extraordinary drive-ability.   Simply put it's one of the finest Bricklins in the world.

The final bidder will win my Bricklin. While I have not posted a Buy-It-Now price for my Bricklin I'll sell it for $13. 50. If this auction runs it's full 10 days it's possible that my Bricklin may pass the $13. 50 mark.

My cell number is at the end of this very long condition report.

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: Automatic transmission. air conditioning. power steering. power brakes. tilt steering wheel. AM/FM stereo and gull wing doors that open at a touch of a button.

ACCIDENT HISTORY: None. The car is untouched and original and its gorgeous acrylic body panels have never been repaired. painted or replaced.

EXTERIOR CONDITION: The originalacrylic panels have retained their original luster and deep gloss. My Bricklin looks as if it has been dipped in molten orange glass. The finish is breathtaking.

I've observed just one hard to see crack in the roof panel between the doors and a 1/8” crack on the edge of the driver's door. The typical cracks that other Bricklins suffer from (hood edges. rear deck edges. fenders) are not present on my car.

The lower right corner of the rear deck lid is ¼” above or out of alignment with the upper plane of the rear right fender. A minor issue due to a 1974/1975 Bricklin injection mold mistake back in the day.

INTERIOR CONDITION: Exceptional. ultra-ultra-clean and wear free. tear-free. issue-free. Carpet. seats. door trim panels. dash and rear cargo area are all virtually perfect.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Show ready. Just gorgeous. actually.

MECHANICAL CONDITION: Exceptional. exceptional. exceptional. For those who are considering flying in (I'd be delighted to pick you up at Orlando International Airport) and driving my Bricklin home my Bricklin is  ready to be driven anywhere in the United States. Take it on a 3. 00 mile drive home and enjoy absolute reliability and comfort.

GAGES & ELECTRONICS: Every gage works correctly although the gas gage needle does occasional bounce which is a common Bricklin issue. I've observed that the gas gage is 6 percent inaccurate.

The original Bricklin radio works well for an old school analog radio.   Even the clock digits work. New. expensive Bose speakers were installed in anticipation of this sale. The manually operated. right fender mounted antenna works wonderfully.

The windshield wipers work perfectly as do the headlight doors and headlight. Every single turn signal bulb. side marker bulb. tail light bulb and tag light bulb was replaced in anticipation of this sale. The plastic lenses and plug-in receptacles were cleaned by hand.

Even the under-dash courtesy lights illuminate.

RECENT MAINTENANCE: 10 miles ago and in anticipation of this auction I. A) changed the engine oil & oil filter. B) changed the transmission oil and filter and replaced the pan gasket with new. C) flushed the cooling system and replaced the coolant and top & bottom radiator hoses. D) drained and replaced the rear differential oil. E) replaced the power steering canister filter and fluid. F) had the entire braking system checked. G) performed a complete tune-up down to new plug wires. plugs. distributor cap etc.

TIRES & WHEELS: 4 brand new. matching BF Goodrich TA radial tires were mounted to the original wheels 200 miles ago. The wheels and lug nuts are nearly completely flawless. At 6 inches distance I've only detected two pin head size blemishes on one wheel.

UPGRADES & IMPROVEMENTS: 6 months ago the air conditioning system was professionally converted from r12 to r134a. Additionally. a modern low drag compressor was installed as was a new dryer. The system was properly vacuumed down before new r134a refrigerant was added. The air conditioner keeps the cockpit at a constant 70 degrees in 95 degree Florida weather.

The original 2 barrel carburetor and its iron manifold were replaced 200 miles ago with a new top of the line 4 barrel carb and new low-rise aluminum manifold. A new free-flow air cleaner sits atop both. The car produces 252 horsepower according to a dynamometer test that was done in my presence immediately after the carburetor/manifold swap.

Terry Tanner. owner of Bricklin Parts of Virginia and former Bricklin factory production engineer. converted the original hydraulic door opening system to his superb pneumatic air door system. Both doors open instantly to their full 65” opening height and close just as quickly and surely. A new $300 ultra-high performance air door compressor was installed 6 months ago.

The not so attractive original Bricklin steering wheel has been replaced with a gorgeous hand polished solid mahogany steering wheel.

Vehicle-wide I replaced every inch of original vacuum hose with new. higher quality hose 10 miles ago. In fact every under-hood and under-dash hose was replaced including heater hoses and radiator hoses were replaced at the same time.

RUNNING & DRIVING CONDITION: Spectacular. This Bricklin tracks dead straight and true on the highway even at 80 mph. The steering box is as tight and accurate as new. It panic stops straight and true even from 80 mph to zero. It has unexpected and substantial power throughout its entire RPM range.

The transmission shifts perfectly at its proper shift points. The rear differential is rock solid and was complete free of metal flakes when its fluid was changed 10 miles ago.

This Bricklin runs perfectly.

THEORY OF OWNERSHIP: Bricklins are an undervalued bargain. Nearly every other collectable. exotic. classic or special interest car of 1970's has wildly accelerated in value while the Bricklin has lagged behind. A 1974 DeTomaso Pantera which stickered for $10. 00 (about what the Bricklin sold for) now fetches $60. 00 or better. A 1972 $6. 00 LT-1 Corvette  now brings $35. 00.

My point is this. Bricklins are currently affordable. Is there potential for their appreciation? I think so. I recently graphed average values since 2009 and their value has climbed by 2. 7 percent per year. Not stellar growth but solid and constant.

Bricklin ownership makes sense. Bricklins parts abound. Certainly its Ford engine and transmission make for no-stress ownership but its body panels and interior components are all still available. too. Many are listed for sale on eBay. All are available at Bob's Brickyard in Michigan or at two other all-Bricklin shops.

My Bricklin costs $290 yearly to insure for full replacement value through Hagerty Insurance (1-877-472-0659). Yes. I'm a 61 years old careful driver but you're certain to pay about the same or just slightly more.

Now. here's what I love most about owning my Bricklin. It attracts attention. Lots of attention. People gather at gas stations to see my Bricklin and ask questions. People gather at restaurants to see my Bricklin and ask questions.  People roll down their windows at stop lights and barrage me with questions. Take it to a car show and you'll be mobbed by the curious and excited who'll ignore the Ferrari to your left and the 2017 Corvette to your right. Raise the Bricklin's doors and people stop and take endless cell phone movies and still shots.

ME: I am not a car dealer. I am an audio engineer and unrelenting perfectionist who's owned dozens and dozens of special interest and exotic cars. Cars are my hobby and a needed distraction from the pressures of work.

This is the 5th Bricklin that I've owned. I bought my first. a nearly perfect 1975 model with 15. 00 miles. in 1977.  My Safety Orange car offered in this eBay auction is as nice as my first Bricklin. I know these cars inside and out and I know what constitutes an exceptional one. Mine is an exceptional one.

WHAT'S INCLUDED: A clean. ‘open'. lien-free. damage-free. flood-free. salvage-free. rebuilt-free Florida title. 2 ignition keys. 2 door lock keys. original owner's manual. original window sticker. original showroom sales brochure. complete repair manual. complete parts manual. factory issued technical memos and 100's of supporting documents and receipts.

WHAT I REQUIRE OF YOU: Please don't whim bid.   Please call me with questions before you place your bid. Be able to transfer a $650 non-refundable deposit via PayPal in order to hold my Bricklin until you're able to drive or ship it home. Thanks.

Sounds like you fixed all the problem spots. I had a green one when they came out,but lost it in a fire. Have you ever have the rear hatch glass fall in or the door glass drop into the door? You mentioned that the carpet is clean so the leaks have been fixed as well? Thanks!
