The Scout by International Harvester was a pioneering American off-road vehicle manufactured from 1961 to 1980. A precursor of more sophisticated SUVs to come. it was created as a competitor to the Jeep. and it initially featured a fold-down windshield. The Scout was produced in Fort Wayne. Indiana as two-door trucks with options of a half cab pickup or removable hard or soft top.

The Scout 800 replaced the Scout 80 in late 1965. 800 were built from late 1965 to 1969. These models had many improvements in comfort and design. including bucket seats. better instrumentation and heating systems. updated dashboard. optional rear seats. and optional 196 4-cyl. 232 6-cyl. or 266 V8 engines. A turbocharged version of the 152 4-cylinder (the 152-T) was offered from 1965 to 1967. The fold-down windshield was eliminated. and the vacuum wipers were moved to the bottom of the windshield frame.

This 4 cylinder Scout 800 was purchased in January 2013 as a project car for my wife and I.   It lived its entire life in Phoenix. Arizona and has spent the last 8 months in a climate controlled garage here in New Jersey.   Absolutely no rust! Starts right up every time!  She runs like a dream and could be driven home today (see videos here).  We've put $10. 00 into the truck to date (see list below). not to mention 100s of hours of blood. sweat. and tears.   We are starting a new family. and sadly. the Scout must go.

We've collaborated with a local restoration shop to handle all of the mechanicals in the car. so you can be sure that all work is top notch.   It includes a full rebuild of the doors and window assemblies. replacement of the entire break system. new windshield. body work on hood and quarter panel (see pics). rewire entire engine bay. new battery. and steering box replacement.   Aside from a fresh paint job. our mechanic doesn't see any other items requiring attention.

My wife and I did the majority of the interior work which included stripping down all of the interior paint. fire retardant foam. Dynamat sound deadening mats. carpeting. bucket seats. and ScoutTopper soft top convertible.   We have not yet had a chance to install the front and rear bumpers. steering wheel. interior door handles. new gauge cluster. and Scout emblem. but they will all be sold as part of this auction.

This is a lovingly cared for Scout. and we'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.   Happy to assist with any shipping you may need as well.
