1960 15 Window Deluxe VW Volkswagen Logo Bus. Mostly Originial.

 

This is an exceptional. mostly original. totally complete. stock. and rare bus for the serious collector who really appreciates truly nice vintage Volkswagens. It was purchased new in the summer of 1960 from Dick Coffey Volkswagen in Huntsville Alabama by Lawrence Brock. Mr Brock owned the local Zenith Radio/TV dealer and had the bus logoed for his business. The bus was parked in 1978 with 60K miles on the odometer. Currently shows approx 70K miles.

I purchased the bus in 1996 and got it back on the road. The engine is the original bastard dealer replacement engine with the original engine numbers stamped on the case. The engine was completely rebuilt. The bus has had a recent brake job and shifts. steers. and stops flawlessly. Brand new correct Firestone 6. 40x15" whitewall tires in 2011.

This bus still wears most of its original paint. The roof was repainted from the gutter up in 1996 due to surface rust and multiple antenna holes. which were all welded closed at that time. The popout frames. front door tops. wheels. and bumpers were blasted and repainted the correct colors in 2003. Correct trim rings and black emblem hubcaps. All glass is original except for the windshields which are new. One popout window is cracked. The bus has all of its original interior in above average condition. The headliner is original and showing its age. The bus did a four year stint in the UK where mounts for shoulder harness seat belts were added on the B pillars.

The body is excellent except for a few extremely minor issues. There are six drill holes on the rear corners where some extra taillights had been mounted. There is a minor crinkle surrounding the driver's side taillight. There is a rust hole the size of a dime adjacent to the rocker trim behind the cargo doors. there are two tiny rust holes in the passenger side front wheel well. and a hole the size of a pea on the passenger front floor. The bus is nearly rust free. Buses of this caliber and desirability rarely come up for sale. Serious inquiries only. Bus is located in St. Louis. MO 63139.
