With an estimated 800 hp. cool custom paint. and a race-prepped interior. this 1978 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is the kind of fully-built prostreet machine that will shock people about how little you paid. not to mention shock people with the sound.


The design of these later second-generation Camaros often is compared to European sports cars. but not this one. The big blower hood instantly lets you know there is nothing but brutish intentions and American muscle. We know you've never seen a custom paintjob like this before. and no one you pass will ever see one like this again. It took a real artist to cover the silver with a color-shifting paint checkered flag graphics package. People will flock to see the chameleon color. and then be amazed as they come closer to see the details like the shaved door handles. This paintwork is the key to an aggressive package that's reinforced by the hood pins. Weld wheels staggered for a racer's stance. and duck tail rear spoiler with "Illusions" on the back.


The custom interior is a great mix of comfortably inviting features and race-ready preparation. Plush custom bucket seats. an AM/FM/cassette stereo. and power windows are some great driving features. Of course. what really grabbed your attention were the items like the full custom roll cage and how the piping of the seats match the four-point racing harnesses. Your right hand will gravitate toward the B&M shifter. and your left one will love the grippy Z/28 steering wheel. Beyond that is a set of AutoMeter gauges. Usually that would be enough for most muscle machines. but on something this wild. there is a full second set of readouts mounted outside. including a large tach with shift light.


Just from everything that's peeking out of the front end. you already know there is something special powering this Camaro. But you really have to pop the hood to appreciate it. Nestled within the shining custom walls of the engine bay is a beastly small-block V8. Racers love the 421 cubic-inch displacement. and this one is topped with a Dyers 671 blower. This feeds the dual Holley double pumper carbs to create a package that delivers serious air to the cylinders. It's supported by the right components like 8mm silicone plug wires. an aluminum radiator. and long tube headers. The full package is believed to be rated around 800 horsepower. That's why it's backed up by stout pieces like at TCI 400 three-speed automatic transmission with manual valve body and a reinforced Ford 9-inch rear end. Up front there is an independent suspension and thick sway bay. Plus. there's a reinforced multi-link rear end with adjustable coilovers. That setup. and the fuel cell in the trunk. is designed to keep the massive 29x17 tires firmly planted to the ground. Finally. making sure you're in full control of this beastly Camaro is power steering and four-wheel disc brakes.
