Welcome to my auction! This is your chance to own one of the most incredibly rare classic automobiles of all time. the Healey Abbott Drophead Convertible. There were just 77 made between 1950 and 1954 and this was one of the first to be made. being registered 19th May 1950.
This classic car has been in my family since the 60's and in 2005 I had some work done on her. The steering was totally rebuilt and a brand new duck and mohair hood (unlined) was fitted at the cost of £3. 74 by Fullbridge Restoration Company. Maldon Essex (specialists in mechanical. body & trim work to Jaguar. Ferrari and all classic cars). Between June 2010 and May 2011 she underwent an engine restoration and total rewire with a private specialist in Tiverton. Devon. at a further cost of £3. 00. I have all the invoices for this work. which I will include for the buyer's information. along with all other pertinent documentation.  She was last MOT'd in April 2011 and used for a further year before being tucked up in the garage until now.
As well as being tax exempt she is now also MOT exempt due to the changes in government legislation.
When my late mother was still driving the Healey it was her wish to see it in film work and a production company did request the Healey for a TV programme being made in the South West but at that time the Healey was off the road. This line of work has very appealing financial benefits for a vehicle as rare as the Healey Abbott Drophead. whether left as she is with a little tune up or fully restored and resprayed she will always be of interest to the film and television industry.
Unfortunately. after being garaged for the past 2 years the clutch mechanism is failing and although this is just a minor issue she cannot be driven away and is therefore a roll-on/roll-off for collection. We are up a private lane but I have had her put on and off a low loader twice now and would be willing to help if necessary.
Condition:Considering her age and the fact that she has never had a respray or full restoration she is in great condition and never fails to command a lot of attention. That said. to have her in A1 condition she would be in need of a light/medium restoration of bodywork. a medium/full restoration of the interior and some tinkering to the engine (plus the clutch mechanism issue as mentioned above). The front seats are not the originals. I believe they are possibly from a Jaguar. Started her this week and she runs fine.
