1967 Daimler 250 V8 Series 2 

Finished in cream with green leather. this Daimler comes with a large folder of history. invoices and original tax discs from as far back as 1974.   The following accurately describes the car. warts and all.  

Bodywork

Restoration was carried out a number of years ago. however the bodywork is now showing signs of needing some further work.   The paintwork to be honest is not great and although the car looks tidy and presentable. there is evidence of micro blistering on the surface panels.   There is no doubt that this old girl needs repainting. however it still looks presentable enough to use everyday.   There are also some areas of the bodywork that will require repair. notably around the front indicator units. which are bubbling. and the bottom corners of each door. which again show signs of corrosion.  

I don't think they need new panels but will require attention to make perfect.   There is some other minor area's requiring rust treatment. for example the rear wheel arch spats have some corrosion and a very small amount of bubbling to the bottom of the boot lid.   The floor pans and sill area's are however good and although there is evidence of welding. its been done to a very good standard.   Personally I would replace all the rubber seals. as these are looking tired. especially the window rubbers but these are not leaking.   The bodywork is clean tidy. shiny and from a short distance presentable.   However closer inspection does reveal that repainting is needed in the future.   Structurally though. the car is strong.

Interior

I would consider the interior as being condition two and although clean tidy and useable. there is room for improvement. The carpets are not very old but appear to be of cheaper quality and look a bit out of place. The front seats are very good and so are door panels. The rear seat at first glance is good but on closer inspection the top of the rear squab has opened up to reveal the foam.   Not a major job to repair but does need mentioning. The woodwork is fine but a bit dull with age. the headlining is also very good.   I've not noticed any damp or water ingress into the cabin so I don't believe there is a problem there.   All dials. gauges and switches work fine. including the period radio.

Mechanicals

This I feel is where things get better and the condition of the engine and transmission is reflected in the large file of service history. bills and other documentation.   This old girl has had thousands and thousands spent on her over the last twenty years . with at least two full engine rebuilds. The previous owners have not been shy to get the work done and so mechanically there doesn't appear to be any work needed.  The tyres appear to be almost new.

Chrome

This appears to be all very good with some pitting to the boot lid trim but this is to be expected after 46 years.

Summary

I would describe this Daimler as being tidy. usable and mechanically sound.   There is no doubt that bodywork will be needed and some attention to the interior to make perfect. however the car comes with a full service history. lots of paperwork and has had massive amounts of money spent on the engine and transmission over the years.   The MOT is till May 2014 and is taxed.
