1983 Watercooled Vanagon Campmobile. I'd prefer you check it out before bidding or buying. If you checked it out and made me an acceptable offer I could accept it and end the listing and you could drive it home. There's a lot to cover in these older vehicles and it's not going to get properly done with a written description. I'll try to cover as much as possible:Rust: nothing serious. a little surface rust in a few areas. Engine: standard 1. 9 water cooled. Mileage estimate 175. rebuilt approximately 6000 miles ago. Starts. runs. good power. idles. all good. Mileage: odometer broke at 161k. Estimate from previous owner and my own driving to be at 175k now. Recently replaced speedometer with one that has a working odometer. so it reads about 155k now. Upper canvas replaced with gowesty kit with the 3 vents. in good shape. Brakes work. haven't done anything to them recently except flush brake fluid. 4 speed manual transmission works. All electrics work except interior lights don't come on when you open the door. Wheels and tires: ok here's the worst part of this van. it needs tires. The wheels are 17" Audi. currently they have 215/55 Bridgestones with maybe 25% tread left. Right now it drives nice on the freeway but not so hot up a muddy hill. Need something with a better load rating also. A better size would be 215/65. which will fit on the front but not the back unless spacers are added. like 15mm. But to add spacers you need to add longer wheel studs. like the gowesty 56mm ones they sell for 20 bucks. The other thing it needs is the passenger side screen. also available at gowesty. Extras: extra front lights. 2 house batteries: 33 amp hr and 55 amp hr. Float charger. solar charging system. inverter. bra. roof rack. Comes with owners' manuals and Bentley repair manual. Dual radio/cd/usb player. nbsp;4 spks. toggle to house battery when camping. Stock seats. no rips. Fridge works. although I've never tested the propane mode. previous owner said it works. Gas stove works. Sink/water pump works. Has AC which works. but can't compete with a modern ac system. I probably left out something important. so question me. If you have a picture request I can add a couple of what you want to see. I have to go to AZ in about a week. so if this doesn't sell I may drive it down there and relist it so if you are in that area you can check it out then.
