I have another classic car & since I retired they are both down to less than 1000 miles a year. & I cannot justify the space for that sort of usage. Much as I love the Quattro I refuse to give up the rag top so the Audi has to go. I have owned the car for the last 22 years & it has been garaged for the whole of that time. This is a very tidy. not perfect. car. which if you are buying for the sheer fun of driving one of these - even today only a handful of cars can hang on to one of these in the wet - you have the opportunity of owning one at a fraction of the price most are being advertised for. The big bonus is a fully rebuilt engine - removing the most expensive potential problem when buying a Quattro. The great majority of the body & paintwork is in excellent condition & once the few below par pieces have been sorted this will be a really well found car - good for many. many years.
I have listed below the condition of all the major components.
ENGINE: Rebuilt 10000 miles ago by Dialynx. with new head & valves. oil/water pump. pistons. main/big end bearings. clutch. radiators. The power was uprated to 250hp at the same time. Previously the Dialynx performance ss exhaust manifold was fitted & new injectors.
TRANSMISSION: The gearbox was replaced with a gearbox off a later WR 10000 miles ago. The centre diff. linkage is different & has not been reconnected - it can be done. if you are thinking of going rallying or towing. The rest of the propshaft. diff. & axle system if fine.
EXHAUST: The rear section will need to be renewed fairly soon. The front section is a bespoke stainless.
BODY: The rear of the o/s sill suffered from rust. & this has been cut out & replaced with new metal. There is a small bubble underneath the windscreen seal at the bottom of the n/s A pillar (photo - the coin is a little 5p piece to give you an idea of scale). It is fairly superficial at the moment but it does need to be sorted. The rest of the bodywork is absolutely sound.
PAINT: The paintwork was damaged 15 years ago by mortar leakage in a car park. & so had a glass out respray (insurance). Some years after this tiny bubbles started forming under the paint in 3 areas of the bonnet. Obviously a little moisture got in during the paint process. I have put in a photo with 3 coins marking the area. but the blemish is so small it is almost impossible to make out. However. the rest of the paintwork is excellent & to bring the bonnet up to the same standard it would need to be painted.
INTERIOR: The backseat. passenger seat & carpets are excellent. pretty much as it came out of the factory. The side bolster of the driver's seat has suffered from contact with the driver getting in & out & so I had a leather patch inserted by a car upholsterer.
ELECTRICS: The voice synthesizer has never been wired in. due the previous owner rewiring the speakers. The headlights have been wired to run off the battery through relays. however all the wiring is in place & a simple matter to reverse. now that bulbs have improved so much. Air conditioning is fitted but disconnected as it has not been modified to accept non-CFC refrigerant. Digi dash all working.
WHEELS: Ronals refurbished. tyres are correct Pirelli P700. 215/50. 3-4mm tread.
MOT advisorys: Front & rear brake pipes to brake hoses becoming corroded. Rear brake disc inner faces becoming corroded. N/S front brake hose becoming perished.
I have the MOTs for the last 20 years. & a record of everything that has been done to the car since new. I can forward this as a Word doc. if required.

I should need a deposit of £300 paid by Paypal within 48 hours of the end of the auction. & the remainder as cash when collecting. The deposit would be non-refundable. except if you find any significant defect on the car that I have not mentioned. The car is not taxed at the moment. but I can use the deposit to get it taxed if you plan to collect outside Post Office hours.
