GMC: Sierra 2500 Sierra 2500

1987 GMC Sierra 2500.   Heavy duty 3/4 ton.   4x4.

History:
This truck was bought new by a female Calgary City Police officer.   She used it to drive back & forth from the farm where she kept her horse.   She also used it for pulling her horse trailer.   It was maintained by her father; a retired mechanic who. worked at the City of Calgary Police Department garage.   It was sold to the owner of a farm. who left it sit for a very long time until it was eventually sold to myself.   I was in need of a very temporary truck. until I found suitable replacement for mine.   I was promised it was an excellent running driving truck but. wasn't ready for what I had found.   My expectations were rather low BUT. it ran and drove far nicer than I could have imagined !!!  Within a very short time. I really fell in love with this unassuming old rig.   I used it for a week before buying another truck but. kept this one.   We held onto it as a spare truck for the acreage.   And. here it sits still.

Condition:
Well as you can see. it has the infamous GM paint adhesion problem.   It's not too bad for rust though. considering.   And. the underside is very solid.   The whole truck is actually quite solid.   I had the lower section scuffed down to bare metal and any rust removed.   It was then treated properly and POR-15 applied (it's an amazing product. guaranteed to kill rust permanently -- It's been a little while and so far so good!).   I didn't mind spending some dollars.   The truck really deserved a new lease on life.   I also had the rims sandblasted and redone back to original.   The rear bumper was done the same.   New tires were installed.   All the fluids were changed. new spark plugs. spark plug wires. cap/rotor.   Etc. etc.    Around the same time. I had a canopy installed on the truck.   The interior was completely removed. and thoroughly cleaned. before being reassembled.   It's certainly not a new or restored truck by any means but. it's very sold and clean.   It should offer somebody some great use for many years to come.   There's also a new LED light bar on the roof and HID driving lights on the front; both installed on custom fabricated mounts/brackets.   I put in a retro CB because I thought it just fit that "vintage" vibe.


Additional information:

I bought a 6" lift kit (including all springs. shocks. steering parts).   Also. nbsp;35" Dick Cepek Fun-Country II tires.   Obviously neither have been installed.   These will be available to the new owner for $1000.
This truck has relatively low mileage for the year.   It's only 195. 00 kms.
