1969 MKll TRIUMPH VITESSE CABRIOLET 2. 0 OVERDRIVE – An iconic cabriolet from the 60′s The Vitesse Mark 2 was launched in 1968 as the final update to the Vitesse range. Essentially intended to be Triumph's answer to growing criticism of the rear suspension. the Mark 2 was fitted with a redesigned layout using Rotoflex rear couplings. This system. also shared with the new GT6 MKII and the earlier GT6 MkIIIs. (GT6+ in the US market). tamed the wayward handling somewhat and endowed the Vitesse with more firm. progressive roadholding. This was the ultimate Vitesse. a saloon or convertible with performance easily superior to an MGB or Sunbeam Alpine sports car but with four proper seats and a large boot. The Vitesse sold well until its withdrawal in July 1971. a year before the new Triumph Dolomite saloon entered the performance luxury sector for Triumph. and two years before the Dolomite Sprint variant added another high-performance sports saloon to the range. Although the Vitesse was an older model. it proved to be more reliable than its replacement.

This Vitesse MKll convertible is one of 3. 72 manufactured between July 1968 and July 1971. Finished in the factory applied colours and blue leather interior. We purchased this vehicle from a gentleman situated in Gainsborough who had owned it since 2005 after an extensive restoration had been completed of which there is a file of receipts equating to thousands of pounds spent. This twinned with several old MOT's and photos of the vehicle being restored is certification that this vehicle has been professionally completed and maintained.  Once the previous owner bought the vehicle he used it for summer enjoyment for two years before putting it into storage due to work commitments. Then 6 years later he decided upon selling the vehicle due to lack of use. Subsequently we were given the opportunity to buy the it and as a result we did a good amount of recommisioning to the vehicle to get it back to its best. This included 4 new tyres. replacement the starter motor. alternator. nbsp;overhauled the brakes. changed the engine and transmission fluids and flushed the fuel system. As a result this vehicle is now poised to be enjoyed by any suspecting buyer looking for a fun classic to put a smile on their face on a sunny day.  With the engine providing a sweet “straight six” raspy note while being delivered through the smooth 4 speed transmission it is perfect for british B roads.
