1987 SUZUKI SAMURAI SPECIAL EDITION.

The Special Edtion Samurai was produced as a promotional item. Not all dealerships received one. The dealerships that did. was limited to only a few and most dealerships only received one Special Edition.

The Samurai is new from the bottom up. There were no short cuts while doing a complete frame off restoration on this one owner Samurai Special Edition.

The car was disassembled  down to the frame and then the frame was also disassembled including all suspension.

The Samurai is and was 100% rust free.

It has always been a southern Georgia Samurai. The bare frame was cleaned and refinished in its original color.  While reasembling we replaced all new brakes. lines. shocks. exhaust system. clutch. pressure plate and bearings and inspected everything else.

Every nut and bold was cleaned painted and replaced.

Even though this was a very nice. low mileage Samurai before the restoration. nbsp; I also had the original engine totally rebuilt including all new seals.

The body was bead blasted insde and out and refinisned in its original color. base coat clear coat. The body is flawless.

Still has the original carpet and door panels.  The seats were redone in its original color and design.

Of course new tires. The Samurai was restored as an original dealership show room display car.

There are no negatives to this Samurai. I have the original clear Georgia title. bill of sale. rare original dealers broshure. and owners manual.

Now for the story. I am not going to make this a book but it is interesting the story behind this Samurai.

In 87 I owned a company. and part of the business was to imprint tire covers for different automotive manufactures. We had one of the dealerships come by the shop and asked for some dealership tire covers for Suzuki. After completeing the order I hand delivered the covers to the dealership and while I was there saw a Special Edition Samurai. Before I knew it I was hooked and talked to the salesperson about the Samurai. I told him that I would think about it  overnight and let him know the next morning. The following morning I was at the dealership when they opened. I saw the saleman that I was talking to and he told me a lady came in right after I left and bought the Samurai. I asked about another one but he stated that this was the only one that they were getting.  After this I sort of gave up on the idea. Since then I have owned a few of the Samurais and did enjoy them.

Now. about 3 years ago I spotted. what I thought was a Samurai. I could only see part of the top down a long driveway leading to an old farm house. I made a U turn and drove down the drive and up to the Samurai and noticed it was a Special Edition. I went up to the door and knocked and an older lady answered the door. I asked if the Samurai might be for sale but she said no and that she had bought it new with her dad and had a sentimental value to the car.  After talking to her about the Samurai I discovered that she had bought it from the same dealership and she had owned it since new. It was the same Samurai and it had been in the same town since new and that town is 10 minutes from where I live. I gave her my phone number and ask her to call me if she decided to sell it.

I kept in touch with her and after a year or so she called me and said she was ready to sell the Samurai.   Needless to say I owned it that day.  The Samurai was totally original and had 46. 00 mile on it. I drove it home and parked it in the garage. After looking at it for a few days I knew that I wanted it to look like it did sitting on the showroom floor.

At that point I started on it. and did everything to it to duplicate that showroom memory. I accomplished what I started out to do. The only reason for selling is that I retired a few years ago and we are planning on a change in life and I would rather this Samurai not end up sitting.  The Samurai is as nice as you can find.  It needs a good home. Would make a great dealership display. or everyday driver. Feel free to call with any questions. 770-722-5329

I have this exact special edition model and same color Suzuki Samurai. It has 54K original miles. It was in storage for 11 years and I cleaned out the tank, replaces a few hoses and it started right up and runs fine. Factory AC and a clean rust free Arizona 4x4. I'm looking to sell for a fair market price. 480-639-8880 Tim

The back seat on the Special edition model was a split seat. As far as I know this was the only model with the split back seat. The top was white with a red stripe. I have seen two different style door panels. There was a very limited supply of the Special editions and the most desired models.

I know this is a super long shot, but is the car still available? I've been trying to find this specific model, and this one is completely immaculate!

Hello I have a 1987 special edition and i'm fixing it up my grandparents had it since i was a couple of years old, they both have there own so this one has been sitting for 14 years and they decided to give it to me. I want to keep it original but my problem is i don't know what the backseat looks like i've heard it was 2 separate seats and i was wondering if you could clarify that for me? and is the original soft top really white with a red stripe? thank you.
