This is a beautiful. fully restored 1973 Triumph Stag with both tops. This car has the 3. 5L 231ci all aluminum V8. and automatic overdrive transmission. This car has 48. 75 original miles.

There have been two owners since new. The second owner (Glen) is a Stag aficionado. but was no longer in a position to keep this car. He told me all of the history he had of this car as well as educating me about a Stag. which I covered below.

The history of this Triumph begins at Reedman Triumph/Jaguar/Land Rover in Langhorne. PA. who originally sold this car. The first owner was from Vineland New Jersey. The original owner drove this car very occasionally. and in 1988 parked it in the garage where it sat for the next 13 years. In 2001. he sold it to Glen. who located this car through the Stag Club of America after having spent a few years looking for one. At that time. it was an un-restored original car with 34. 77 miles. Glen had owned a few other Triumphs including two Stags in the seventies and early eighties and was very familiar with the Stag models.

After driving this Triumph for the next three years. Glen decided to have this car undergo a full restoration in 2004. Over the course of the next five years. this Stag was gone over from top to bottom. The engine. trans and rear were removed. along with all of the suspension and steering components. and everything else that unbolted underneath the car. The interior was completely removed as well. The body was stripped down and prepped. At that time. all of the paint was original. and there was no previous or existing body or accident damage. The entire car was refinished in the original factory enamel Sienna color. including the engine bay. The undercarriage floor pan was also prepped and coated. The bumper chrome is original. but nearly all other bright trim pieces you see on this car are actually the original stainless steel. The alloy wheels were all sent out and refurbished to new condition.

The interior was fully gutted and refurbished. The seats were fully reupholstered and the carpeting was replaced. The dash. door panels and all other interior trim was either replaced or refurbished. A full new canvas convertible top was also installed. This is a very comfortable and clean interior. I am 6'3” tall. and I am quite comfortable and not cramped at all in this Stag. This is also an easy car to get in and out of. unlike some other Triumph models.

The engine is the Buick 231 all aluminum V8 that was briefly produced for Triumph. Apparently there were a few different engines used by Triumph in the Stag. and from what I understand this was far and away the best and most desirable powerplant available. The other engine that was used in this car was commonly subject to head gasket failure due to overheating. This Stag has an extra high capacity aluminum radiator made specifically for this car. and is twice as thick as the original. It also has an electric fan. There are no cooling concerns with this Triumph whatsoever.

The transmission is a rebuilt unit with overdrive. which means this car can be driven comfortably at highway speeds. The independent rear was rebuilt with new gears. bearing. and seals and reinstalled. and the CV axle assemblies were both replaced.

Nearly all of the undercarriage components are new. except the rear suspension lower control arms and the steering rack. which were rebuilt and refurbished. All of the brake components have been replaced. and there are stainless brake lines as well. All of the suspension and steering joints. bushings and hardware are new. There is a complete set of Michelin tires on this car that are like new. The exhaust system was completely replaced with stainless pipes and mufflers.

The restoration was completed in 2009. and this car has been driven 6000 miles since then. Glen kept a record of his restoration expenses. which totaled over $38. 00. This Stag has been stored in a heated aircraft hangar during the duration of Glen's ownership. and he says it has never seen a single drop of rain. Afew years have passed since the restoration. and the car looks beautiful with only some minor flaws and we invite any interested buyers to come inspect and drive this car.

As a classic car enthusiast myself. the first thing I did was to road test this Stag. The engine starts easily and has a nice mild rumble on acceleration. This car has a nice smooth idle. and the engine pulls strong. The transmission shifts smoothly. and the whole drivetrain feels excellent. I drove this car nearly forty miles to our facility. It runs and drives extremely well on the highway and through the city. The suspension feels excellent and this Stag drives so smoothly. its hard to believe it's a forty year old car.

This is a such a user friendly and easy vehicle to operate - you can comfortably give the keys to anyone without any special instructions. This is a car you can pick up and drive home. anywhere. This Stag also gets lots of thumbs up and turned heads.
