1948 GMC 3/4 ton pickup with 5 window cab. in stock condition.
Imported from Texas approx 3 years ago this truck is UK registered. has a nearly new MOT and is Tax exempt. It has a stock 6 cylinder GMC engine which is better than the Chev of the same year as it has a fully pressurised oil system. and is slightly larger capacity. The transmission is a 4 speed with a granny gear (very low 1st)
As can be seen it has very solid bodywork. with the cab corners and door bottoms in good condition. not the usual rotted out mess. There is what remains of the original paint and the bed has the original wood planks. although there is a small hole in the bed. The glass is pretty good but the back window does have some bullet wounds.
The truck has 17" wheels and recently had all new BF GOODRICH tyres. From Northants tyres these cost £233. 50 +vat each see http://www. northhantstyres. com/vintage-tyre-search-final/75017. htm . There is no spare. In the cab the headlining board has recently been renewed and a rubber mat installed. The seat was recovered a couple of years ago. The gauges are original and have the used look. however I do have a decal set if anyone wants to refurbish them. The ammeter. oil pressure and temperature gauge work. The speedo and fuel gauge currently don't. I would guess it needs a new speedo cable. The door windows would benefit from new runners being fitted. It has just had the 3 flexi brake hoses replaced. the underside has been sprayed with old oil to give it some weather protection.
If anyone is looking for a truck like this I think you would find it hard to find one in better original condition. currently for sale in the UK.
