Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 499 votes
A  genuine 1936 based Austin Seven Cambridge Special in very good condition. Chassis number 244133 dates this car to 1936. converted to Cambridge Special in approx 1962 and reregistered at that time. The car has hydraulic brakes. which unlike standard Austin Seven brakes are very effective. with new front wheel cylinders and recent new linings all round. The handbrake is externally mounted by the driver's cockpit. The car has a 2 seat sports aluminium body and independent wishbone front suspension with telescopic front shock absorbers. It has a new Rod Yates aluminium bonnet with centre hinge and removable aluminium side panels. The engine is a newly rebuilt (by Tim Myall of Pigsty Racing) 747 cc Austin Seven 2 main bearing unit. with high compression Ruby cylinder head. Phoenix steel crankshaft and fast road spec camshaft. It has a factory reconditioned 1 1/4" SU carburettor and a four branch exhaust manifold with a stainless steel side mounted silencer. lightened flywheel and clutch and remote external oil filter. It has a new Bosch distributor and a new ignition coil. The gearbox is newly rebuilt (also by Tim Myall)  4 speed and reverse . close ratio. with synchromesh on 2nd. 3rd and 4th gears. and a remote gearchange.
The radiator is original Austin Seven with a water pump and an electric cooling fan. The dynamo and starter have both recently been reconditioned. and there is a remote starter solenoid. The electrics are 6 volt . with a new battery. an ammeter. rev counter. oil pressure and engine temperature gauges. and a vacuum gauge. Electric flasher indicators are fitted and the headlamps are new stainless units with seperate main and dip beam filaments. The fuel tank is new. together with new fuel filters. fuel lines and an electric SU fuel pump. The tank has a new aluminium Monza filler cap. All springs have been reset with all new bushes. There are 6 17" wheels with very good tyres (2 brand new)Brooklands aero screens are fitted. The seats are nicely upholstered with no rips or any kind of damage. and a period Les Leston steering wheel is fitted. The rear boot space is generous with lots of room for picnics. cold beers etc and has a neat fitted custom vynol tonneau cover. There is an extensive history file with the car. The car starts  and runs easily every time. there is no engine smoke and no oil leaks. It looks great. goes well and has lots of character. but rememberit is intrinsically 77 years old. so no guarantees. This is a great little fun car. it is easy to run and maintain. and parts are readily available. The Austin Seven Owners' Club is friendly and very helpful to new owners. We know the car as "Kermit" due to the cute big eyes. and we will be sad to see it go. but as is often the case we have too many other projects and hobbies that prevent us from using Kermit as often as he deserves. so it is time to let someone else have some fun.  Tax is free. comprehensive insurance about £65. so it's really cheap to run.
A deposit of £200 is payable by paypal within 48 hours of the auction ending. the balance in cash or cleared funds on collection.
