This Bug is an absolute monster on the street with tons of power pushing it from the rear with a fully rebuilt 2110cc engine with a Dick Landy blower!!! You must watch our video to see this ripping Bug in auction!

Twenty years ago. this Beetle. a former show car. had been demoted to a driver and needed some TLC. Its second owner. a man out of North Carolina. had been looking for a VW project car that already had a good foundation. The NC Beetle was a good candidate because its original owner had already made modifications – chopped top done during the 1980s. frenched taillights from a '39 Ford. license plate box. filled horn grilles and exhaust pipe cut-outs and a frenched rear antenna. The car won awards as a show car earlier in its life.

Once he towed it home the new owner began making his VW plans a reality. The car's first visit was to Fender Benders in Charlotte. North Carolina. where owner Fred Propst and his crew took the car apart until it was merely a shell. which was sanded to perfection before Propst painted the shell DuPont Guards Red followed by four layers of clearcoat. Scott Andrews added flames to the solid and very tidy floorpan and clear-coated them. despite that most people will never see them. The results of that first stop still resonates today as the paint and trim are in excellent condition. The tinted windows are in similar condition and the vehicle's lights are all in great order. the Sylvania XtraVision headlights. Rossi park/turn signals and the aforementioned '39 Ford blue dot taillights. Other exterior details include Neal billet aluminum disc brakes all around. with Wilwood front and rear calipers and Neal emergency brake. KYB shocks. Sway A-Way front and rear sway bars and polished aluminum Centerline wheels within 135 tires in front and 205 tires in back with silver skull tire caps.

The next stop was George's Trim Shop in Kannapolis. North Carolina. where the car received a red-and-black crushed velvet interior made especially for it. The car has two sumptuous Scat Procar bolstered bucket seats with center console in front. Juliano Royal Deluxe door handles. a fantastic-looking Gene Berg locking shifter. Formuling France three-spoke steering wheel with the Wolfsburg crest in the center and. in a touch of whimsy. a rearview mirror lifted from a Pontiac Sunbird. The crew at George's fitted an aluminum panel inside and filled it with VDO gauges and a JVC AM/FM stereo with cassette deck and detachable faceplate. Within the console are spots for a vintage VDO clock and resting place for a smartphone. Other interior features include a polished billet fire extinguisher from Prowlers in Canyon Country. California. then-new tinted glass. window seals. door regulators. matching crushed velvet door panels and billet aluminum windshield wipers. Wood panels covered in more matching red and black crushed velvet. a stereo amplifier and two JVC 6×9-inch speakers replaced the rear seat.

A friend of the previous owner. Steve Bowers. took care of the car's new heart. a 2110cc flat four-cylinder engine with extensive modifications. He machined the crankcase and fitted a 82mm Bugpack wedgemated crank. Bugpack 5. 352-inch race rods. Mahle 90. 5mm pistons and an Engle FK-7 camshaft. using Bugpack's 1. 4:1 rocker arms. A set of CB Performance ported and polished Eliminator 2000 heads. a stainless steel 42mm intake and 37. 5mm exhaust valves comprise the in and out for the fuel and air. A Dick Landy supercharger topped by a Holley four-barrel carburetor replace the earlier. dual Weber 44 IDF carburetor setup. Other engine details include a Bugpack 1 3/4-inch merged header system. Bugpack dual exhaust system. a lightened and wedgemated flywheel. Kennedy 1700-pound pressure plate. full-flow oil system and a Gene Berg 3. 5-pound equalizer pulley.

The engine recently was pulled and rebuilt with a couple of changes as of lowering the compression for the blower to 7. 56:1. A set of 4 new barrels. cast hypereutectic pistons (90. 5 x 82mm). rings. wrist pins. clips and a brand new Scat 82mm forged crank. See the photos in our description for more details.

To handle all of the power the engine emits. the previous owner asked Sam Shackelford at Rancho Performance Transaxles in Anaheim. California. to build a staunch IRS transmission using stock cogs plus a Super-Diff. Sway A-Way axles. heavy-duty aluminum side covers and Porsche 930 constant-velocity joints.

This is truly a unique VW Bug into which its previous owner infused a lot of money and effort to make it stand apart. You need to visit our showroom in person to truly appreciate the work that has gone into making this car the jewel that it is! GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
