1983 Jeep CJ8 Scrambler Rock crawler, mud bogger, 4x4, off road

1983 CJ-8 Jeep Scrambler.

I could have saved a lot of money and bought an existing Scrambler and modified it to suit my needs but I wanted it to be perfect. so I built it from scratch. frame up to suit my wants and needs. It was primarily built as a “bullet proof” trail rig but will play just as well in the mud. sand or rocks and. it is street legal as well. This is a very well built. powerful and capable machine. It is not for everyone and only a select few will need or appreciate a vehicle like this. As I said above it is street legal. BUT it is not built for or meant to be driven on the street full time. This IS an off road vehicle which can be driven to the corner gas station to fill up. on Texas beaches or a few miles on the road from camp to the trails ONLY. This is a “turn-key” rig ready to wheel. not a project which needs to be worked on before you can use it. I have almost 5 years of time and close to $35. 00 dollars invested in this vehicle. ·        Rear end is a shaved Ford 9” housing with Detroit locker. 4:56 gears. full floating  Speedway Engineering  axles and disk brakes

·        Muncie SM 420 4 speed manual transmission with 7. 0:1 low gear has been rebuilt with new bearings. synchros and gaskets

·        Dana 300 transfer case has been rebuilt with new bearings. detent balls. springs and gaskets. twin sticked and clocked to provide additional ground clearance

·        Engine. transmission and transfer case skid plate

·        Hydraulic throwout bearing clutch setup

·        Tom Woods driveshafts front and rear

·        Custom made roll cage tied to frame

·        Poison Spyder “Rocker Knockers” with custom slider bars added

·        Custom made spare tire carrier with new spare tire. two 5 gallon gas can carriers
