1979 VW Kombi Panel Van

Classic Kombi appeal with a very individual look and unique styling.

This VW has been in our family since new. Previously owned by my uncle it worked as a mobile repair van for his mechanical workshop. After only 5 years of service this bus was then retired due to the business closing down. The plan was to freshen it up and on sell it. but thankfully for me this never happened and the day once came where i was old enough to appreciate this classic vehicle and take on the custom restoration.

The van was in dry storage for at least 20 years. i acquired it in early 2003 and slowly commenced resurrecting it. Plans changed somewhat from my original intentions but what you see now is what became of it.

The body was very straight and very little panel work was needed. virtually next to no rust. from memory. a small pinhole at the bottom of the front screen. a dent in the lower section of the drivers door and a small metal plate required where the filler for the LPG gas tank had been fitted was the extent of the metal work Required.

Fully rebuilt and customised for the intentions of being a promotional vehicle for my Motor Trimming Business. Blackneedle Auto Upholstery.

All Mechanical work. Engine. brakes. suspension have been completed by Mike AT CBB "Custom Bugs and Buses". an absolute expert in his field especially when it comes to VW's

All Interior Upholstery work completed by Mark (myself) at Blackneedle Auto Upholstery.

Work that needs completing. Gauge cluster. speedo needs calibrating and fuel gauge needs connecting. I hand intentions of traditional heating but never completed setup which i half installed.

Kombi presents exceptionally well. Paint is really nice with only a few small chips and light scratches from daily use.

I haven't driven this much over the past 3 years. and It really deserves to be out there and enjoyed by many.

Who ever buys this classic Kombi will get a real buzz. the reaction we get from total strangers is amazing. from young teenagers hanging out of their cars  taking selfies with us in the background to getting pictures taken at the servo while filling up to older folk giving us the nod and thumbs up when going for a weekend cruise on the Putty!
