1988 Peugeot 205 GTi 1.6, very rare, registered in USA, restored and super clean for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 540 votes

I legally imported this car from the UK under the DOT and EPA exemptions for 25 year old vehicles. Since its arrival. it has passed Oregon emissions testing and has a clear title and registration in the state of Oregon (see pictures). Most states have similar or less stringent emissions testing than Oregon's. Vehicle VIN is VF320CB6201515666

This must be among the cleanest remaining 205 GTis left in Europe. and is one of just a handful now in the United States. I have a full binder of service records dating back since the early 90s. along with both original keys and all the service books etc. In the UK. vehicles need to undergo a thorough annual inspection (car up on ramps. suspension/bodywork/brakes etc inspected and tested). I have many years worth of these certificates. and the most recent one passed with no advisories of problems. Note that being from the UK. the car is right hand drive. however. this is really not a problem. There are thousands of UK people living in France & Spain for many years. and most just keep their UK cars (which is the same scenario as driving this car in the US).

It was clear than no expense was spared in keeping it in top condition. The engine was taken out and rebuilt with lots of new parts. This included new valve stem seals. timing belt and water pump. It had most of the rubber pipes replaced and new clips fitted. Also all the brakes where rebuilt with new brake and fuel lines front to back. Under the wheel arches have been stripped cleaned and under sealed and painted professionally. The bumpers were removed and all rotten metal behind was repaired or replaced. This car has no apparent rust.

The rear torsion beam seizing up is a common problem on these cars. It has been fully stripped and rebuilt so everything is free.  The front brake calipers and suspension have been replaced. The car has also recently had a new clutch cable. distributor cap. plug wires and alternator.   All the glass was taken out and the top of the car repainted including trunk lid and rear quarters.  Overall. nbsp;the car looks great. It has a few scratches here and there. but really nothing noticeable.

The interior is truly amazing for a 25 year old car. All the plastics look great. the carpet is fresh and clean and the seat fabric has no tears and is clean. The only issues I observed are that the driver's side seat bolster has become a little flattened (again. the fabric is fine. nbsp;and the foam could be repaired if desired). Also the leather gaiter around the gear shift lever has some cracking. and the steering wheel has some wear around the rim (not really very apparent. see pictures).   Also. the rear windshield wiper doesnt work (it is almost never used anyway. but could be easily fixed).

This is a chance to own something completely unique in the US. and would be a suitable car to be prepared for going into a private collection or classic car museum. I have tried to describe the vehicle to the best of my ability. Please note that it is a 25 year old car and therefore I welcome inspections/test drives prior to bidding.

I will require a $500 Paypal deposit within 24hrs of the auction close. and the balance to be paid in cash on picking up the vehicle. I am able to bring vehicle to the Portland airport if you are flying in to pick it up. If you want the car shipped. all arrangements will need to be made by you. and I will only ship the car after cleared funds are received.

Dear Sir or Madam:

I saw the listing for a '88 205 in Oregon and wondered if the car was still available for sale. If it is, would you please telephone me at your earliest convenience at 415 373 7495.
