Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a rare find. a 1979 Ford F-250 Supercab 4x4 "x26" model. Ford built 210. 25 F-250's in 1979. 8. 55 were built as "x26" models. That pencils out to roughly 4% of F-250s built in 1979 were supercabs with factory 4 wheel drive. This beautiful truck has spent the majority of its life in "America's Salad bowl". the mild climate of the Salinas Valley in Monterrey county. This truck latter half  of its life was relegated to the barn were it sat for many years. Because most of its life spent in a single region by the same owner it has been able to be kept in very original condition. To add to the rarity of this rig. some of the original options included Factory A/C. Cruise Control. CB Radio. Wheel hubcaps and its also a "Trailer Special" model. This truck is powered by a 351m motor with a Dana 60 rear axle and Dana 44 in the front. This is a very cool and unique rig for any Ford truck enthusiast. As far as classic ford trucks go. few can say they are more rare than this one. Any model of these classic 70s Ford's are appreciating in value. This is an opportunity to invest in a truck that is and will continue to appreciate in value more than other Fords of this era.  


Cosmetically this truck looks fantastic. As mentioned above it has spent many years sitting in a barn on the farm. its a very nice looking truck but is not flawless. Upon leaving the farm this truck went through a mild restoration. The original paint has been repainted it's original light medium Blue (K code) with a 2 stage process and PPG paint. Since being repainted many people have complimented and asked what color is it. The "Trailer Special" emblem was removed from the tailgate during paint prep. I do still have the emblem and will include it with the truck. The bumpers look good but are not perfect there are some dings as you can see in the photos. All the chrome trim and bumper shines nicely. there are few dings in the taillight trim. The interior is in  original shape. with one exception the front seat has been reupholstered. The rear bench seat has a separation on the corner seam but no tear in the vinyl. There are no tears in the headliner. There is a few cracks on the dash. the Ranger glove box still looks great as well as the rest of the dash. All the gauges are functional functional. except for the dash lights during night. The turns on but it doesn't seem there is speakers hooked up. The steering wheel cruise control buttons are functional as well as the horn.
Mechanically this truck is very original. The 351 starts up and runs reliably. It is not the fastest or most powerful motor Ford made but it runs like it should. It is equipped with the California smog requirements which also add to a lack of power. This truck PASSED the CA smog which is an accomplishment on a 38 year old vehicle. It does also have its original single pipe exhaust. there is an small exhaust leak. This rig is screaming for a nice new dual exhaust setup. The transmission shifts smooth in all 3 gears and reverse. The front disc rear drum brake setup functions as it should and brings this heavy rig to a stop safely. The headlights work the rear tail lights have gone out and do not work. 4 wheel drive works as well. This truck is 38 years old and in original condition mechanically it is not perfect as expected with any 38 year old vehicle. however it is in good shape passed smog. runs and drives and is a great foundation to improve on or just leave it as is in all its original 1979 glory.
