Description

According to Rolls-Royce Foundation records. LSHD60 was shipped to the Bloor Street. Toronto. Canada Rolls-Royce dealership. JL Cooke Motors on July 16th. 1952. The car was originally finished as a left-hand drive example in metallic blue and silver blue. trimmed with light blue leather interior. Shortly after arriving in Canada it was sold to its first owner. Col. W. B. Phillips. an active Rolls-Royce Owners Club member. He kept the car for several years before it passed to the second Canadian owner. Mr. C. A. East of Hampstead. Quebec. Mr. East was also very active in Rolls-Royce circles and showed the car at many RROC club events and local shows.

Over the next 15 years it changed hands through several collectors eventually being acquired by Mr. Roy G. Wild. Mr. Wild enjoyed the car for some time before eventually sending the Rolls-Royce to Mr. Allen Smith a local Aurora. Ontario. Canada shop to have the car worked on as it was decided by Mr. Wild that the car needed a complete mechanical overhaul. The engine was removed from the chassis and was completely dismantled and rebuilt. Work was done to the cylinder heads. clutch. connecting rods. water-pump distributor and all other major mechanical components. A detailed receipt of this work is available in the cars file. The paint and interior were freshened. but kept highly original. Following this work. Mr. Wild used the car on a regular basis regularly participating in several Rolls-Royce club events. in particular one called “The Texas Tour”. held in 1983 in which an article was published and the car was later featured. For the next 46 years Mr. Wild would own and care for this car. putting only 12. 00 more miles on the odometer.

Of the 761 Silver Dawns that were produced. only 24 of them were built by Park Ward in LHD configuration and only six examples were ever produced in Drophead configuration with this particular styling. In addition to being incredibly rare. this example has some of the nicest styling cues of any Rolls-Royce's of this era. with the front fender line carrying well past the front door. This example benefits from a recent mechanical and cosmetic restoration. It has been repainted and still remains in its original color combination. has had new carpets and seat panels inserted. a new top with new headliner. all of the wood has been polished and detailed thoroughly. the engine bay and underside have also been completely detailed. a full mechanical tune-up was performed. including all the fluids being checked and changed. as well as specific attention to the cars braking system. Overall. the car has very nice exterior panel fit with good quality chrome. It still wears white sidewall tires as it was originally delivered.

The opportunity to purchase one of the rarest. most elegant open-top-touring Rolls-Royces of the era from 46-year single family ownership is almost unheard of in today's classic car world. LSHD60 would serve beautifully as a wonderful touring car. or perfect for any RROC meet and touring event.

Includes all books. tools. and records.
