Due to the historic significance and rarity of the 1950 Frazer Manhattan convertible. we thought a little review of the history might be in order.  By 1947 there was a huge demand for new cars and to quickly meet that demand. the Detroit manufacturers were using the pre-war designs.   Mr. Kaiser who had been building war ships during WWII and had deep pockets decided to get together with Mr. Frazer and build the Kaiser-Frazer company with brand new designs and engineering to meet the post-war demand.   It is interesting that by 1948. Kaiser Frazer was producing over 180. 00 cars.  For 1949. one of the cars that they decided to build was most unusual. it was the 4-door convertible.   None of the other manufacturers at this time had anything but 2-door convertibles.   There were many people that felt that the 1949/50 Frazer 4-door convertible was America's most beautiful car.   The 1949/50 4-door convertible was considered to be highly luxurious.  The Frazer 4-door convertibles were known to be a really solid car and a true joy to drive with the top up or down.   The first Frazer 4-door convertible came out in 1949 and the production of this body style ended in 1950 and only 70 four-door convertibles were produced. talk about a rare production run!  This has to be one of the all-time rarest production runs.

The Frazer four-door convertible in this eBay auction is a rare example of this genre.  This car is equipped with the original large (and powerful for its day) six cylinder engine with a 3-speed manual transmission on the column with overdrive.   The overdrive of course is very important because it allows this car to cruise at today's highway speeds without any effort. The private seller tells us that the car starts. runs and stops the way you would expect it to.   Actual mileage unknown.

As you can tell from some areas like the engine compartment. the car could use some TLC in terms of cosmetics but it is a good. sound car that you can go to all the major car shows for years on end and never see a 4-door convertible.   The Frazer 4-door convertibles are truly some of the most rare and unusual cars of the post war period.

The car does have power windows but they are not currently working.   The owner indicates that the lights and directionals are working. The engine drops out some minor drops of water which might be a gasket issue.   The owner also has some historical information about previous owner history.

If you are looking for the rarest of the rare of the post war period. and a car that is extremely good looking and most unusual for its being a 4-door convertible and being a unique brand called Frazer and on top of that. being of a run of only 70 production cars made in the 1949/1950 two year run.   This could be the car that you are looking for your collection. museum or the car that you want to bring to the car shows that will certainly draw a crowd!  The private seller has indicated a low reserve (please don't ask) and we do prefer phone calls at 847-774-4857.

This is a car that you can bid to win and be happy that you did.
