Rolls Royce Shadow 1 SRH

FOR SALE: A beautiful pearl white Shadow 1.

The exterior of this Shadow 1 is in clean presentable condition. The body and underside are very solid as the car lived most of its days in a dry climate in Texas. USA. As with most cars of this age it has had some cosmetic paintwork and there are a few minor blemishes but nothing that detracts from the overall appearance. The RR front grill is in exceptional condition and the rest of the bright work polishes up well and is free from any corrosion or bad pitting. obviously a little patina is to be expected.

The interior is a very charming and luxurious place to spend a journey. the leather is all original and free from any tears or damage. obviously over the years it has worn a little so has some light cracks and creases that really add to the charm. The dash is beautifully made with a beautifully crafted slab of wood and simple but stylish switch gear. The ride is idyllically smooth and there is plenty of room for the back seat passengers to travel in style while shipping champagne.

Since being brought back over to the UK the car has been part of a private British classic car collection and has benefited from some light re-commissioning work as well as regular use and service work. The car fires into life on the first turn of the key and instantly finds a smooth idle. as you would expect the drive is silky smooth and the car pulls effortlessly through the gears. Some of the recent work includes the following;

1. The hydraulic system has been overhauled with almost all pipes replaced
2. The ignition has been upgraded with an electronic system
3. The carburetors rebuilt and serviced
4. The exhaust system and gaskets have been replaced
5. The rear brakes have been overhauled
6. A replacement fuel pump has been fitted

The wheels all have their original RR chrome packs that remain in nice clean condition. they are all shod in a recently purchased set of Mastercraft tyres.

The car started life in 1967 with a London owner and some early service history is still with the car till the early 80's. At this point the car was exported to the United States where it has enjoyed a much dryer climate and ended up in the hands of Texas politician who had a collection of historic vehicles that he hired for film shoots.

The current owner Ian purchased the car in 2008. him and his brother Jeff made an eventful road trip from Jeff's home in Alabama to El Paso through the mountains and via Big Bend on the Texas/Mexico border. They then loaded up the Rolls on a trailer and towed it back to Houston where it was shipped back to the UK to reside in his collection of British Classics. Since arriving back in the UK the car has been in regular use and Ian has kept an excellent history file of all the work that has been carried out and parts used. Also included are all the MOT certificates since being back in the UK and a Shadow maintenance manual and owner's manual.
