1947 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith James Young Two Door Saloon WTA79 for sale

One of just three built to this design. this car is an attractive and desirable. early example of the Silver Wraith. which has been with one owner since 1998. unused for much of that time. In generally sound condition. in running order. complete and correct. but needing re-commissioning and some refurbishment. The interior is partially removed. but included with the car. Comes with various original tools. materials bought for re-upholstery. and a history file. which. amongst other things. includes confirmation that the original colour was Bluebird Blue. a sample of which can be seen showing through the later black finish. Interestingly. it appears that the car was originally fitted with R100 headlamps. which have been replaced by later 7" units. presumably in an attempt to modernise the car's look. probably in the 1950s. The pods into which these are fitted are simply bolted on. and it should be a straightforward job to re-instate the original setup. which we feel would improve the frontal appearance of the car. A couple of the photos above show these. A very worthwhile. relatively light renovation project.

Ordered in 1946 by Charles O. B. Rees for his use in Egypt. - whilst on his travels he used to reside at glamorous locations including the Hotel San Regis in Paris and Essex House on Fifth Avenue in New York. Due to the delay in the completion of the car Charles Rees did not take delivery of WTA79 and instead it was acquired by H. G Bentley of 55 Park Lane. London W1. By 1954 WTA was with Albert E Fidler of Sibson Manor. Nuneaton. he was a director of C B Lowe Ltd – Millers. flour & offal dealers. In 1915 the firm used to deliver their goods in Sentinels and by 1934 they acquired a Super Sentinel which had been converted to a six-wheeler in 1933 by Sentinels. The sentinel steam lorries used to draw their water from the River Sence on which the firm's mill “Sheepey Mill” was built.
