1948 Cadillac Other

The 1948 Cadillac Series 61 and Series 62 were the first new designs from the company following World War II. The wheelbase was shorter than the 1947 models. which were basically warmed-over 1942s. But the big news was the appearance of the Cadillac fin. which housed the rear taillight and made the car look lower. Fins would characterize Cadillacs for the next 30 years. and would be adopted as a styling cue across manufacturers through the end of the 1950s and beyond. The 1948 model year was abbreviated to about eight months and production was modest. It also is the only year of the special single gauge airplane cluster. This is a project car with matching numbers per the prior owner. I purchased this car as a package deal with another car. Wife says No room for 2 cars. There are a number of parts that are included but not installed like engine air cleaner. interior handles. some window chrome. door panels parking lights etc. These were off the car when I got it. However. it does have new glass. window seals. seat upholstery and floor covering but needs headliner and door panels. Original headliner and door panels are included for patterns. A replacement steering wheel is included. See the picture of door panels and other items that need to be installed to complete the car. The brakes have been rebuilt and the engine runs but needs work. It may need tune-up and carburetor work to get it to purr like it is suppose to do. The previous owner recently re-chromed the bumpers and gave it a recent paint job that has some issues. not show quality. The chrome is there but a few pieces need work/replaced. Was told the car was stripped to the bare metal by previous owner with no rust through. I have not found evidence to the contrary. He said it did have some previous accident repair evidence on right front fender and the driver's door. See pictures of inside of doors and underside of car which looks very good showing no rust. I was told it was an Arizona car believed to have been used by the government. Inside of engine bay looks to be Navy grey. The car is being sold as is so please ask any questions and do your inspection before you bid. The deposit is non refundable. I am a retired accountant not a mechanic. I will be available to help load the vehicle for transport once payment is received. I reserve the right to end the auction early since the car is for sale locally.
