Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.25) based on 535 votes

The 1953 Studebaker. designed by Robert Bourke and Raymond Loewy. has consistently ranked as one of the best-designed cars of the fifties in lists compiled by Collectible Automobile. Car and Driver and Motor Trend magazines.   The '53 Starliner is still recognized today as one of the most beautiful cars ever built.

I acquired this beauty from a private Dallas. Texas area owner and have enjoyed it and driven it regularly for seven years (all in Texas).  It has never seen rain and has always been garaged.   Although I've not shown it for competition. I've proudly displayed this true classic in many classic car venues and parades.    Before I bought it. the car had won second place in a national AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) meet in Topeka. Kansas and first place in an SDC (Studebaker Driver's Club) national meet in Springfield. Missouri.

The car had undergone a ground-up frame-off restoration to bring it to the condition it is in today and restore it to my favorite color combination. red and white. with DuPont Centari paint.   I have a quart can of the red paint to go with the car.   I added a 70-amp alternator (to replace the existing 35-amp alternator) and a contact brake light switch (to replace the existing hydraulic brake switch).

The exterior has straight panels and all the original chrome and stainless steel trim are shiny and straight. and all the glass is clear.   The engine compartment houses the correct. original flathead six and the correct 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive.   The car starts and runs well and is a pleasure to drive. even without power steering.  The steering and brakes feel good. The undercarriage is smooth without corrosion.   Very solid underneath.   The interior looks brand new.   The dashboard. carpeting. door panels and headliner are like new.
