Opportunity to acquire at no reserve this Mk2 Stag. striking in Signal Red!

Reg: PVT991M

M. O. T :June 23rd 2014

Recent: new parts including: axle. Carburetors . ater /power steering pump. springs. tyres. steering rack . ubular exhaust manifolds . indscreen rubber.

The car also comes with a host of spares  and official Triumph workshop Manual

Background to the car:

Original supplying dealer. J Evans Birmingham the car appears to have sent a considerable time in the region before a short stay in Yorkshire then in 2004 the car was purchased by a Mr Parkinson  in Kilkenny Southern Ireland. the car then resided there until I purchased her in May this year when I took the opportunity to drive back to Herefordshire some 256 miles.

As mentioned above Mr Parkinson recently replaced quite a number of mechanical components during a mechanical overhaul of the car .

His next job was to carry out  a bodywork  restoration . nfortunately he became smitten with an 82 Mercedes 380sl ! so the Stag was going to have to take a back seat.

So condition of the car  I will be as critical as I can ( please read my seller feedback on other classic cars sold)

Drive Train :

The Rover unit is very  good . he hydraulic tappets are quite in operation and no overheating issues. ( fitted with Kelowe thermostatic fan )

Gearbox BorgWarner 35 . speed change up and down fine. kick down  will require adjustment. torque converter good  .

Rear Axle new .

Brakes . ery good

Exhaust . ery good . tainless steel.

Wheels . ery good no kerbing.

Tyres:New

Electrics:

At the time of writing all working including electric windows . ar for radio.

Interior:

The interior is the original fitment and whilst not in its first flush of youth carrying just the right amount of patina. and considering it's age in good condition.

Hood.

The hood is the original fitting and whilst it has faded it has not leaked. just some side stitching to do and with a re dye would be perfectly acceptable.

Hood opening  cover . ery good.

Brightwork:  very good with very little pitting . ikewise the stainless steel over sills .

Bodywork :

The car was originally white the colour change took place 10 years ago

The main structure of the car is very good. inner wings. loor sections . inge and slam panels .

The outer paneling . arrying a very good depth of shine and being signal red it is my humble opinion a much better colour red than Pimento . he is now  ready for  panel restoration . nothing major  in my opinion . he shut lines are good and the doors have not dropped . here is some bubbling. mainly localised to the wing sections  . but in my opinion I would use it for the remaining summer . hen  attend and repaint the bodywork. as it  looks very striking in it's signal red.

There is no hard top for the car but I do have one that requires work which I will give to the winning bidder . f they so desire.

On the road :

As mentione above . collected the car in Kilkenny Ireland. for a return trip via Dublin and Snowdonia back to Herefordshire  . his was in mixed road condition covering some 256 miles this was after the cars furthest journey in the last 8 years was 20 miles!. he car performed well. the only problem I had was a blocked in line fuel filter causing fuel starvation . nce changed the vehicle performed well . with that smoothness you expect cruising in a Stag and with the sun shining . oof down. it was a very pleasant place to be!

Overall Conclusion:

This a great entry into Stag Motoring without the trials and tribulations of the Triumph V8 unit  . and yes would benefit from attention to the bodywork. but it is a car you can use straight away . nd at your leisure carry on further enhancement's . it certainly attracts admiring glances . nd being a 1973 has the added bonus of being road tax exempt next year!

Many Thanks for looking and all the very best of luck with your bid!

Regards

Dave

Please note: the cars I sell are “classic” cars and by nature and age are not of the reliability that is afforded to a modern car (apologies to the classic car enthusiasts for stating the obvious) but with all the best will in the world  whilst I would love then to stay totally reliable. but being old (like myself! )They can breakdown and you should be aware of this. if you have any doubt about classic car ownership or any of these facts kindly refrain from placing a bid on the car.

The car is as usual being sold with “No” Reserve !

Please Remember You Bid to Buy Not to Haggle.

Please note. The description of the vehicle is from my eyes and my opinion. you are warmly encouraged to view and inspect the car prior to bidding yourself . I will do my utmost to accommodate you. But once the auction has finished and if you are the winning bidder. you will be expected to conclude the transaction after being given this opportunity to inspect before the auction concludes. Please do not hesitate to call on : 07970383375 to arrange a viewing.

If the winning bidder is not UK Mainland based. it would be possible to deliver the car to a embarkation destination of their choice. once payment is received and the appropriate delivery tariffs have been met. it would be up to the winning bidder to organise the necessary on-going transportation and paperwork.

Please note! With two previous bidders who have had successful bids on other classics I have sold and have been European mainland based. they did not complete the sale quoting. they did not realise the logistics for transportation to the European mainland

Please. Please. Please!

If you are based on the European Mainland and you are going to bid on the car. please make sure you have the means to transport to the European mainland. also please make sure before you bid. that if you intend to road use the vehicle it can be registered in your country.

If you require a quote for terms and tariffs to your destination please do not hesitate to email or call me :07970383375

If you require additional pictures. please do not hesitate to email.

Now for the boring bits. I only sell good quality classic cars and describe the cars as accurately as I can and sell with honesty and integrity (please read my feedback) I have had on now 13! occasions individuals being the successful bidders on cars and not fulfilling the auction terms so wasting my time and stopping a genuine person getting the car. nbsp;

I am also sad to say had an individual who decided after winning the car thinking he could try and force me to sell the car for less intimating placing negative feedback!

I would be grateful if you could call Me on: 07970383375 or email before you bid to confirm your intentions are bona fide .

Many thanks for your understanding.

Dave.

Jazz Blog;

Well I have to say the weather this summer has been spot on ! plenty of opportunities and events  to drive your classic hopefully with an indian summer would see the year of a treat "

With the coming of 2014 the government in their wisdom  are allowing the road tax exemption to extend to cars 1973. et in most of Europe they take the 30 year rule as the classic (old timer) status with reduced or exempt tax. hy not here?

Oh and whilst on Europe and all matters tax"

The latest bureaucracy from HMRC. if you import a vehicle from outside the UK. whether  Europe or worldwide before you can register . ou have apply to HMRC for what is known as a NOVA ( Notification of Vehicle arrivals)  this is to confirm whether or not VAT is payable. et all cars over 30 years of age and more than 6000 miles on the clock coming from within the EU are exempt" . ut you still have to go through the process . if you thought dealing with the DVLA was bad enough . o quote Bachman Turner Overdrive. ou ain't  seen nothing yet !!
