1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham #448 An original two owner California car in very nice un restored condition with 71000 miles. Originally sold by James Duffy III. who was the curator of the Willet H Browns Hillcrest Motors Beverly Hills collection of Antique cars. Duffy inherited the car from his aunt who purchased the car new from Hillcrest in 1958 and was a Beverly Hills resident. A California car still. it is still rust free being put away for years and never offered for sale since the purchase from Mr. Duffy in 1981. In the new hands of the owner in 1981 it was considered to make it a mild custom. due to its rarity it was never done and left in its original UN touched original condition. The car still retains its original Black and yellow California License plates and its Original small California pink certificate of title dating the sale from 1981. I will not bore you with the options and rarity that these cars had when new because if you are interested in one you already know the features and options and rarity of these cars. This car has never been For Sale or seen since 1981.

The exterior of #448 features a very straight body with original black paint. some minimal checking to the paints in some areas like the corner of the hood and trunk top quarter panel. trunk has two small palm marks from shutting the trunk and one small one on the top of the driver side top quarter panel they are very small but noticeable one certain angles when viewed. Some small chips to the driver door edge aprox four about the size of a pencil head. And some checking to the driver side top fender. The stainless roof is UN marked and in outstanding condition. All exterior moldings. badging. and dagmars are present. the front top half of the trim above the grill was lost but re found and is out getting straightened and will come with car. we do not have the small ends that go on the edges.  The grill is rust free and not bent in any of the shingles. The chrome work is fair on the bumpers. no rust issues just original and never re done so there is some light pepering but un damaged . rubber bumper ends are not torn or dented or splitting. The stainless has held up very well throughout the car. unmarked. and ding free. all lower pieces are bright and straight.  The body gaps are well fit and all four doors shut solid and align perfect. All glass is also in very good condition and window stainless trim in same fine shape. The car sits on its original wheels and hub caps with some minimal curb rash to the right front center of the passenger side front cap. Tires are good and very useable. All Brougham stainless lowers are complete and not dented up. door handles are very presentable. key locks are functioning and the car has all sets of keys. The car retains its original T3 Headlights that are currently working correct. All signals. brake lights and reverse lights are operating correct. Lenses are also in good condition as well as all bezels.

Interior of #448 is 100% original and mostly in great condition. especially the headliner and the light blue original cloth and leather on the seats. driver door panel arm rest has a split on the seam of the stitching as seen in the photos. the original mouton floors are present but missing some small patches due too age. original Cadillac rubber floor mats sit on top these. The dash and interior bright work is excellent; the car has always been stored inside a climate controlled environment so gauges are still bright. The transparent visors are excellent. Windows and seats are operating very well. this includes all functions of the three position seat even moving back automatically when exiting the vehicle and going back to the memory position when entering. All six power windows are working smooth and fast including the vents. AC is complete with the fan blower working but not blowing cold air. The trunk is finished in its original material also in good condition with some fraying near the battery tray. It is complete with all of its trunk accessories. The car still has its original Trumpet horns in working in Loud condition.

Mechanically: #448 had a motor rebuild in early 1990's also the fuel system was rebuild with a new pump and restored gas tank. the runs very well with no hesitation. smoking. or strange noises. a very quiet well balanced original motor that has been taken care of. The carb and air supply are in correct it has a single carb on the car that was changed prior to ownership in 1981. The air ride suspension has all of its parts in place and operated as well as they did new up too the late 90's. all four air bags have shown their age and have small cracks and do not hold air for a long period of time. relays and valves were checked and do seem to be working properly. the car is sitting on suspension blocks so it can be driven. it will be the new owners choice to go back to the original air bag system that always were known for their problems even when new ( Original owner had the car in Hillcrest every few months addressing that problem. ) or to go to the spring system like so many other Cadillac's did from this era. The transmission. brakes are working well and the car can be driven and has currently been driven. All lights. signals. and power items are working nice. Rear trunk closer is not currently operating correct it will shut by the lever in the glove box but open using the lever. Included with car is box of old back issues of service manuals. Brougham owners club magazines. the original owners guide in perfect shape kept in plastic since new. plastic cigarette holder. and leather backed mirror. we do not have any of the other accessories but know there readily available. Under carriage is original . rust free. and never undercoated. or painted. it has never been touched there are 28 photos showing the original patina of it via photo bucket.

Eldorado Brougham #448 is an attractive candidate for a restoration. although it can be enjoyed now simply for what it represents: An original car. un restored and just taken care of for over 56 years. A car that was simply the best of its ERA.

The most recent sales are another 58 sold on Ebay 3-13-2013 for $75. 00. this car was not in the condition #448 is. it was not running since 1977 and the condition was far worse than #448 it is item Number 290885266336 if you would like to view it.
