Sure. we'd all love to have a 1965 Ford Mustang with a performance-built 289. modern five-speed manual. and an all-black appearance that was heavily invested to remain as slick as the midnight air. The problem is a cool quality classic like that is never usually affordable. But this coupe is proving that you should never say never.


Wearing a recent coat of Raven Black. this handsome coupe almost looks like a black mirror as the light evenly rolls off every surface. Of course it takes more than just an investment in great paint to get this kind of appearance. Investing in a quality restoration. too. makes sure that the black has the best canvas around to ensure this classic Mustang looks far more expensive than it is. And all that dark metal makes for a great backdrop for the bright trim. Everything from the large chrome bumpers. to the window surrounds. to the iconic corral grille seems to pop right off this deep dark surface. The appeal of the car goes beyond just how it makes the factory element look. Upgrades like the Shelby-style fiberglass hood scoop. Scott Drake LED taillights. and Cragar wheels clue people in on just how upgraded this restored coupe is.


A black vinyl interior continues this aggressive attitude. and just like the exterior. there have been some serious investments in correct materials to keep it looking its best. There are new seat covers. carpeting. headliner. dash pad. a modern cup holder center console. and so much more that keeps this coupe feeling fresh inside. But this isn't a full sea of darkness. The wood rimmed steering wheel warms the atmosphere nicely. the upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo have a nice glow. and there's plenty of brightwork on the original style dash and door panels. A classic like this was meant for driving. That's why you'll see upgrades like the SunPro tach mounted in front of the clear original gauges. and that stick shift has more gears than you'd ever expect in a '65 Mustang.


When you open the hood. the bright Mustang valve coves. air topper. tower supports. and Shelby-style Monte Carlo bar give this V8 the same appeal as how the chrome looks great against the exterior. But the shine is not going to be your favorite part of this motor. It's a 289 cubic-inch V8 built by Terry Walters Precision Engines. This includes a ton of go-fast goodies. including a larger bore. Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor. Edelbrock Performer intake. balanced assembly. reconditioned rods with ARP bolts. roller rockers. chromoly push rods. ceramic coated headers. and so much more. In fact. if we listed all of the great components. we'd run out of room. So call for all the details. Just know that it makes a wicked sound out of the dual exhaust. And best of all. the five-speed manual transmission keeps you in complete control of the soundtrack and lets you grab more gears than most of the classics out there. On the road this Mustang is up to handling its extra power and versatility with features like an upgraded independent front suspension and SSBC front disc brakes.
