1974 Mazda Rotary Engine Pickup Truck REPU 61. 00 original miles. Original owner. 5 speed transmission upgrade. Clean title and CA registration good until 05/14. Engine runs excellent. Starts immediately cold or warmed up. No smoke at any time. Recent work: NOS clutch master and slave cylinders. Rebuilt front brake calipers. New rear wheel cylinders. New brass sleeve and kit for brake master cylinder. Battery. NOS ignition switch and matching door lock set. NOS fuel tank. (replaced after photos of under carriage taken). New fuel filters. Carb rebuild. Decelleration control valve rebuilt. Idler arm bushing kit installed. New spark plugs. Oil change and new filter. New rear bumper. New Alpine speakers. There is not one dent in the sheet metal. Not a ding. No rust anywhere. Glass is perfect. Upholstrey is excellent. Not a rip or tear anywhere. Dash pad perfect. This is a super little truck that needs little to be excellent. The original fender flares were replaced with wider. custom made metal ones to accomodate the 60 series tires and wheels. The paint on both the front flares has cracks and requires attention to return the paint job to excellent. The tires are cracked. seperating and require replacement. This vehicle is sold as is. where is and comes with no warranties/guarantees expressed or implied. I have over 50 NOS Mazda parts that are for sale in addition to and seperately from the truck. The person who buys this Mazda REPU acquires the right of first refusal for the parts. I can provide more details on the parts to anyone who is interested in buying them in addition to the truck. I won't consider selling any of these parts seperately until after the sale of the truck is concluded and the buyer of the truck isn't interested in purchasing the parts. Buyer is responsible for the transportation of the vehicle. Payment is by bank certified funds. If you prefer Paypal. I can accept it if your willing to pay whatever fees are incurred by me from Paypal for the transaction. The Rotary Pickup (REPU) was the world's first and only Wankel engined pickup truck. It was sold from 1974 to 1977 and appears to have been available only in the United States and Canada. The Rotary Engined Pickup (REPU) had a 4-port 1. 3 L 13B 4-barrel carbureted engine. flared fenders. battery mounted under the bed. a different dash. front grille. and round taillights. It is estimated that just over 15. 00 total units were built. Most were made for the 1974 model year. due to the energy crisis putting a damper on sales. Mazda restamped many of the 1974 models with a prefix "S" designating it as a "1975" model. Approximately 700 units were built for the 1976 model year. Mazda invested in a moderate redesign for the 1977 model. updating electrical systems. adding an additional 4 inches (100 mm) cab stretch for more comfort. and adding a 5-speed manual transmission with different differential gearing. However. after about 3. 00 units. the REPU was discontinued due to poor sales. Road & Track magazine was impressed with the "smooth. quiet power" and the "nice" interior. Most of the trucks are found on the west coast of the US. and they continue to be sought out by enthusiasts. Like many of the other Mazda rotary vehicles. the REPU was raced. Its most notable finish was an overall victory at the 1975 SCCA Mojave 24 Hour Rally at the hands of drivers Malcolm Smith and Jack Sreenan.
