I am selling my baby. 1978 Toyota Landcruiser.  Totally modified. this gets all the looks and endless people taking pictures (if you aren't inside)!  I bought this last year and then put another $5. 00 or so into it changing the gears to a 3. 73 for better highway cruising. new rear lights. then a lot of work that wasn't cosmetic. but was necessary.  I mainly use this as a town car.  I drive into town or up to Snowmass or down to Basalt.  That's about it.  The ONLY reason I'm selling this is that I moved and my new house has a shorter garage (my stock denali fits in with about 3 inches of clearance) and I don't want this out in the elements for 6+ months of snowfall.  I plan to get another land cruiser. but one that fits into the garage. but it won't be this cool. Below is a list of build specs from when I bought it: Frame off restoration on this fully custom build. Gets all the looks. Multiple trophy winner. Over $40K invested! Below is a list of modifications:
-Engine: 350. (model years is 1973-1979) Quality Automotive completely rebuilt the engine. It has been bored out at . 030 over. Normal dyno testing done at this range is about 380hp. Electronic Ignition.  Carb is a late 1970's Rochester and has been rebuilt.
-Tranny is a TH350. which is an automatic. Transmission Cooler is mounted to the front of radiator and will help keep it cooled by an additional 60 degrees F. Transfer case is GM 205. The shifter had to be completely reshaped to make it into the original Toyota hole on the transmission hump. Power Steering.
-Exhaust is dual with turbo mufflers. These mufflers are quieter than straight pipes but will still give you that deep throaty sound.
-Running Gear: Front and rear are out of a Chevy 3/4 ton truck which is more functional. You can drive down highway at 65 MPH AND tow.
-Frame: 1978 Stock FJ40. Machined brushed the frame and coated it with an enamel brush on satin that is used on bare metal and stands up to gasoline.
-Tub & Top: All the doors were completely taken apart to give the best quality paint job possible. PPG was used as the paint and it is a single stage. This paint is top of the line and extremely hard.
-Front has Disc brakes and rear has Drum brakes.
-Drive shafts were completely rebuilt and had to be machined to proper length.
-Wheels and Tires: Wheels are made by Offroad Racing and are 8 lug 6. 5"x 17"rims. Tires are Nitto Terra Grappler 33"x12. 50".
-Front Shocks- Compressed 21" Extended 35".
-Rear Shocks- Compressed 13. 5" Extended 24".
-All Exterior Hardware is Stainless Steel.
-All new interior professionally done.  Ceiling liner and dash pad are brand new as well.
The few things missing that you may or may not want to address: there is no A/C.  I live in the mountains so there is no need for A/C.  Top comes off. bikini top goes on.  There's your A/C.  I would think this would be the case most anywhere.  There is no radio.  I didn't mind no radio so I never added one.  There isn't a gear display.  Sounds like a big deal. but it's not.  You can feel the gear change from P. . . etc.  Never bothered my wife or me.  Speedometer is a little off.  Since I don't drive it far. i never bothered fixing this since I don't drive it fast (though I have floored it and this thing moves).  The mileage is listed as 64. 75 but honestly I do not know if it is 64. 75 or 164. 75.  Other than those things. this is a great rig.  I love it. my wife loves it. my plumber loves it. everyone loves it. but I do not want to see her slowly rust out because she's not garaged in the winters.  I am located in Aspen. CO and I have the title in hand so if you're in the area and truly interested. send me a message and we will arrange.  If you buy from long distance I can help with the transport (meaning you get a transport here and I can meet them and do whatever to help).  Shoot me questions if you need to.  I tried to address it all.  Truly one of a kind and it makes me sick to have to sell it but that's how it goes.  It's either the LC or the new house.  Please don't offer me $10. 00 or something like that.  I will consider reasonable offers. but I am not accepting lowball offers or trades for a boat or Rolex or something else.
