Welcome to the regrettable sale of my Triumph Stag. Coventry's finest.
Finished in period "magenta". this Stag has only had three previous owners. not the usual ten plus that most that are advertised have had. The car has an MOT until Arpil 2014 with no advisories. and tax until August 2013. although I can re-tax the car at the buyers' expense. I have all old MOT certificated dating back to 1984. and a stack of receipts. testament to its' previous owners maintaining the car - over £5000 spent in the last 7 years alone.
The Stag benefits from electronic ignition. new fuel pump. new battery. re-conditioned steering rack. stainless steel lined brake master cylinder and has had a full suspension rebuild at the cost of nearly £1500. The car is now poly-bushed and handles extremely well indeed. The under-body has been under-sealed and waxoyled. Alloy wheels had a refurb in 2007. and tyres have travelled less than 4000 miles.
I have just had a full engine service by a Triumph Stag specialist in west London. Kenlowe fan fitted as well as a recon radiator - so no overheating issues. I was driving the car the other day in temperatures in excess of 34 degrees c. the temperature gauge never rose above half way. A replacement Triumph V8 engine was fitted in 1987. and I have a receipt to show this.
The interior is good. everything works except the clock. The wooden dash is in excellent condition. the door-cards are perfect. a CD player has been fitted together with new electric window switches. Seats are respectable. but could do with re-foaming. Both front seats also have a couple of splits about an inch long. Rear seats do not require any work. Carpets are fine. but drivers side foot-well is starting to show its' age. Brand new rubber over mats are fitted.
All bright work is very good. no dents - a spare middle grille section is included in the sale (you can't purchase these new any longer). Bodywork has a deep gloss finish in period magenta. All shut lines are excellent and very original. Doors are rust-free. as is the boot lid. all shut perfectly. The car has had a re-spray within the last 20 years in the original colour. although the previous owner had a collection of classic motorcycles. and stored them in his garage. and put his Stag under a car cover - this has caused micro blistering in the paintwork. this is only noticeable on close inspection. and I would overestimate to say that this has had an affect on 25% of the paintwork. Both rear wheel arches will require work. and both front arches have a rust bubble about the size of a 50 pence piece. Bodywork is scratch and dent free.
Both hard top and soft top are in very good condition. the soft top window is not split although the zip is fragile. The car comes with two sets of keys. and main key works ignition and both doors (so locks appear to be original). I will include a Stag wind-deflector and tonneau cover (worth over £300). I also have a shower proof cover for when parked with the roof down. I also include a hard top dust cover for when the roof is kept in storage. and early 90's car anti-thieft devices (hand-brake and steering wheel lock). Locking wheel nuts are fitted.
To sum up. I have looked at many Stags before we purchased this one. the average price seems to be around £7000. I am setting my reserve at way below half that figure. The car can be enjoyed straight away. with light restoration when the new buyer decides. This is a mechanically sorted car that drives and handles well. so despite minor paint imperfections. I would say that this mark 2 Stag will be one of the best advertised at the price. The car is advertised elsewhere. Usual Ebay rules apply. Car is located in High Wycombe. Buckinghamshire. Winning bidder to collect car within 7 days of auction end date. cash on collection. No overseas bidders or with feedback less than 10. Serious bidders only. Remember the car is almost 40 years old. No timewasters or tyre kickers please.

All you classic car enthusiasts. good luck! Chris.
