If life were a car movie. this is what the baddest bad guy around would drive. After all. a 1970 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 dressed in slick black inside & out is already an intimidating machine. But then when you add in a Butler 461 V8 that's pushing 435+ hp at the rear wheels. a five-speed manual to control it. and a whole host of more performance upgrades. well then. you see that this custom build will blow everyone away on the streets.


The exterior just exudes power. It starts with the new-for-1970 fastback styling that turned these Firebirds into one of the most unique machines on the road. And nothing looks better on the sleeker profile than modern black paint. When you invest in a mirror-like clearcoat. the result is a coupe that can slip through the midnight air. Plus. those functional twin scoops look ready to consume the road ahead. and the full-width rear spoiler is a great finishing touch. But even if this Firebird is the stealthiest of the bunch. it doesn't miss out on great American brightwork. You see it places like surrounding the twin grilles and on a set of special large 17-inch alloys designed to look like the iconic Rally II wheels.


The feeling of modern. dark. and premium that you get on the outside continue the moment you open the door. You'll sit down in the black leather Recaro bucket seats. Not only is this more comfortable than what you could get in the '70s. but also these were designed to keep you planted during performance driving. And you can again instantly tell this Firebird has been upgraded with serious motoring in mind. The Scroth four-point racing harnesses. half roll cage. and Long shifter are all there so you can drive with confidence. But there's more here than just a race car. The interior has been restored to look just as slick as the outside. and there are even comfortable upgrades like cup holders and air conditioning. You'll love grabbing the three-spoke sports steering wheel and gazing at the custom AutoMeter full gauge package. This will get your heart pumping even before you turn the key and hear the dual exhaust rumble.


When you open the hood. you're going to see an impressively tidy V8. But as we alluded to before. there's much more going on in the engine bay. That's a Butler 461 motor with go-fast goodies. including a Comp Cams Xtreme Energy camshaft and a Holley Ultra XP 850 CFM four-barrel carburetor. That means over 500 horsepower at the crank and around 435 hp at the rear wheels. So. when you have this kind of power. there also needs to be all the right investments in supporting components. It starts by giving you total control over the monster motor. thanks to a Tremec TKO II five-speed manual transmission. That feeds an upgraded 12-bolt rear end. and it all sticks to the ground with new Nitto NT555 performance rubber. On the road. there has been over $2k invested in keeping fuel delivery and other components reliably feeding the beastly V8. and the upgraded suspension includes Global West frame connectors. The final parts of this total performance package includes power steering and front disc brakes. which make this bad boy Firebird easy for you to tame.
