1913 Cadillac Ute

1913 Cadillac Custom Ute The "New" 1913 Cadillac was a progression of 4 cylinder cars with its root as far back as 1905 with Cadillac's first 4 cylinder model the D. Cadillac continued to improve these high quality cars over the next 8 years with a

range of models from 20hp and 100" wheel base. through to this model with
its 50hp. 6 litre motor and 120" wheel base. The 1913 Cadillac was the 2nd
last model prior to the introduction of the V8 in 1915. Fast reliable
touring cars. 4 cylinder Cadillac are well sort after worldwide with the
50hp cars commanding top value (if sold) and with less than a handful in
Australia these are very rare.

The early Cadillac movement (1903-1914) is very active with large numbers of
Cadillac entered in rally's here in Australia. New Zealand. the United
Kingdom. and of course the United States when ever tours are happening. A
large data base of information is held by the Yahoo Early Cadillac Group
(ECG) along with helpful advice and often part projects to assist current
restorations. The Cadillac La Salle Club is a great resource for information
and assistance in restoration. Likewise the GM Heritage Centre holds a large
data base of information (copies are available for on line) including build
sheets on all models for 1903 onwards.

Produced as a touring car in early 1913 (Motor #83853) this very usual
Cadillac was turned in to a "Ute" for use at Montana's Garage in Franklin. /span>
Washington (State. USA) in the 1920's and was in service till the 1960's.
Remarkably it retains its original 27" wheels & rims which were
traditionally changed out for more available tyre sizes during and shortly
after WW2.

After passing through several hands it was sold to Cadillac Collector in the
Seattle area who owned it for over 20 years before selling it to me. It
remains mechanically very complete though it has been somewhat dis-assemble
and put back together and will need a full restoration.
